Good article on the responses from Chelsea and Liverpool this week, from Des Kelly.

Des Kelly should stick to what he's best at laying carpet. Utter tripe that piece.
It was only a matter of time before somebody rolled out the carpet joke. :)

Wow. So you accept derogatory racist remarks too.

If you are referring to negrito. It's on. A racist or derogatory word. I could give a fúck less bout Suárez or Liverpool. But there is so much crap associated with that word since the incident that I'm beginning to think my family were racist for calling me it as a child.

Yeah, Terry must be thanking his lucky stars that Suarez had his conviction first and Liverpool handled it in such a pathetic and embarrassing way. All he has to do is keep his head down and stay quiet.

    Superb find.

A 3 game ban was a ''cop out'' by UEFA according to one poster. Well perhaps the Liverpool fans should be in contact with the FA telling them they've done a great job giving out a decent punishment.

RAWK posters aren't Liverpool fans, they're mental cases with internet access.

Suarez and Terry are said to be sad not to have a white Christmas this year.

Yeah it's a lunatic asylum alright.

Same as all those fans-only forums. I'd say utd and every club has similar knuckle dragger forums.

Especially when certain posters here post constantly things they have read or been linked to on those forums as if they are new info.

I dont think people who live and breath and read inside the GB & I bubble actually realise what people in other parts of the world are seeing from the FA and the FA cronies, and im not talking non western society either, im talking about respectable journo's from the states for example who are not sucked into the the media angle in the uk.

The problem with the FA is that if you go through rulings made over the years, foreign players seem to get the tougher time, the examples are there, and it does serious damage to the image of the FA outside of its shores.

You have a representative for the players in Gordon Taylor, who has nothing short of strong worded on the Suarez/Evra affair, yet, when it comes closer to home and a current England employee........."Stuart regrets what he said, and he'll be ringing Paul (Ince) to apologise. Hopefully that will be the end of it".

There is either inherent favouritism or xenophobia, impartiality seems is relevant only when 'nationals' come into it, the rest of the world sees it, and it is wrong.

If you think that is a good article, then fair enough. Des Kelly says, and i quote, (actually before i do go on, the embodiment of this riposte to Kelly will be shamelessly used by me below and is credited to Jim Boardman on twitter.)

    "Ignorance is not a defence".

And here is a further quote from him outside of that article.

“Isn’t it time to move on from this pointless indignation about the word ‘pikey’? Preferably without leaving behind an empty Calor gas cylinder and a pile of litter in some field. There are people out there who actually believe this was somehow ‘racist’. The word [pikey] has nothing to do with race. Obviously it is derogatory, but it refers to the traveller community. This is not some genetic or ethnic grouping"

Ok, fair enough Des, lets spend, say, 30 seconds firing this into google search engine.

“Romany Gypsies and Irish Travellers are legally recognised as ethnic groups, and protected from discrimination by the Race Relations Act (1976, amended 2000) and the Human Rights Act (1998)."

There you go SoulTrader, this is the article written by a man who says "Ignorance is not a justifiable defence". If you think this tripe is a "good article", i suggest you change the publications you read.

Anybody who says a garbage article which happens to support their side of the argument is well written is trolling.

Yes you are missing something here, it's called context. I hope for your sake you are only pretending to not understand it.

The Mail really is a joke of a paper and daithijj has just shown why people roll the eyes when they see it as a source, especially journalistic opinion pieces.

Its the paper that opposed the cancer vaccine for teenage girls in the UK and backed it here.

Well suited. Opinionated, loads of noise and little quality and facts are irrelevant.

Jim Boardman forms the basis of your response? A man who writes for a Liverpool website? Well done on the impartiality there. You can criticize Des Kelly and the Mail all you like, I am no fan of either. I posted the article there for all to read who are interested; it is only one article but the vast majority of independent media have condemned Liverpool's response to the FA's verdict.

And ignorance isn't a justifiable defence - you're quick to point that out when discrediting a journalist, but hasn't that formed the basis of Suarez's defence? Why aren't you screaming "Ignorance isn't a defence" in relation to Suarez?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 43,313 ✭✭✭✭K-9

Ignorance is not a defence for a Daily Mail writer. Its a prerequisite.

It means that as they write for The Mail they've an ultra conservative right-wing agenda and they don't let simple facts (or fachts for those who are easily amused) get in the way of a inflammatory story.

It's pretty much accepted that any of the Mail publications aren't considered in high regard by anyone with any semblance of intelligence.
