But we're celebrating christmas and nothing more.

You're wrong and you've been told so many times already. A lot of people, now and a long time before the birth of JC, celebrated Mid Winter.

Which begs the question, what are people in the southern hemisphere celebrating? :pac:

everyone knows the true meaning of christmas, its when all people of all races come together and forget their petty differences to celebrate the night he rescued those poor people from Nakatomi Plaza. Our one true saviour, John McClane.

I was passing a few of my neighbor's houses today with all the show-off christmas decorations up. They never go to mass, a few are anti-catholic, and some are actually atheists. The first people to slate the church with the all scandalous revelations.

Christmas is about the birth of Jesus, and nothing else.

Saint Nicholas who was from Turkey inspired Santa Claus and died 800 years ago and is buried in Newtown Jerpoint in Kilkenny.

A bit of a farce the whole thing.

    Hypocritical or what?

Everything is a bit of a farce when you think about it. Why bother with life at all, why live even, your going to die in the end, right?

Christmas is about drunkenly singing Fairytale of New York at the end of the night in the club.

christmas to me is about having a day off work, getting together with some family, eating enough food to induce a turkey coma, and spending the rest of the afternoon slouched on the couch carefully balancing a tin of quality street on my heaving food baby carrying belly. I'm expecting twins this year.

I like to think I always treat everyone with respect everyday, and am generally a happy person. I can also party most days.

But it made me physically sick this week when my boss was the lovely guy for once. Like, get a bloody grip man. Was it really that hard to be nice? Did it really have to take the christmas buzz to make you 'sound'? And a lot more work was done and everyone went home the happier.

All I know is it fücks w/ the sports schedule. and that's enough to make me realize something is askew, so fùck off Christmas, go on.. Look; nobody's chasing after you saying come back. Turn my day on it's head will ya..

    Why celebrate Christms?

Because it's fun to. You meet up with old friends, get time off work, spend time with your family.

I'm struggling to see a downside.

    I'm anti organised religion.

I don't believe in god or any of that crowd.

I call it 'Christmas' and probably always will.

Christmas for me is about friends, family, food and drink and looking forward to the 6 nations.

    Am I a hypocrite?

Perhaps but not a single fuck will be given that day.

I wonder does the OP still worship the sun, or call Sunday by a different name?

Well at least you're honest about it, and not making up some nonsense.

Maybe I'm an extremist, but I just despise the church and everything that's goes with it. Christmas means absolutely nothing to me.

Why would you allow you're views of the Catholic Church ruin Christmas?
