I don't think we should be judging ourselves on other teams' standards or last seasons standard. We should be setting our own standard and when you look at the points we've dropped against poor opposition it hasnt been good enough. It's nearly halfway through the season and we've only won 8 games. I do believe that we can pick things up but some new ideas are needed.

Fair enough I would be coming at things from a completely different angle to yourself. I am not judging us on anyone else. Fighting for fourth was what I expected from us this season which we are doing. 8 points over 17 games is huge in my eyes, it's a half point extra per game!

I just don't get where the expectation that things should be so much better than that come from. Huge LOL at people talking about the money we have spent. We lost Torres, effectively Gerrard and Meireles from the squad and now have Lucas out for the season. Overall we have had a very small NET investment during the summer. Considering a large part of that was for Carroll who has been a huge failure thus far. Where do people expect this huge improvement should come from ?

    Opr

I mentioned the idea of Rush returning as a coach for the attack several pages back, no one picked up on that. :(

By the way, if Spurs maintain their current pace they'll finish on 83 points - enough to win the title last year. They aren't that good, right? The most likely outcome is that they regress towards the mean during the second half of the season. If we can improve a little, we'll be in the mixer for Europe late on.

I'm worried about that huge Lucas sized hole in front of the back 4 tbh! Wigan nearly exposed it and even Bolton, poor as they were, showed it up a few times.

I think we'll plod away, getting 1-0 and even 2-1 wins, keeping just about in touch. We'll huff and puff away and will put one or 2 away in a game. Not good enough for 4th though.

Spearing and Gerrard back should make a difference to the balance of the team though, particularly if Suarez gets the 8 game ban. Spearing and Adam with Gerrard as the AM strikes a good balance in the team, a balance that was lacking last night.

A fit Gerrard would certainly be an asset. Great finisher.

Spearing can also do a very decent job for us.

Is that a blindly optimistic declaration or do you know something?

I'm optimistic enough about us finishing in the top 4, who knows maybe even top 3.

When you see we are only 4 points off Spurs, and they along with Arsenal and Chelsea all still have to come to Anfield and play each other again, an awful lot could happen between now and May.

It could be set up for a Torres return and to score the goal on May 5th that gets us 4th spot ahead of Chelsea :p

I think him coming out and saying that John Henry & co were part of the reason he left, has pretty much scuppered whatever faint hope there may have been for him to return :D

It seems recently that when RAWK hear a Liverpool player is involved in a public poll, the opposition have about as much chance of winning as the opposition in a North Korean general election

    Share of the vote;

    Demba Ba 1%
    Vincent Kompany 0%
    Luka Modric 0%
    Nani 35%
    Scott Parker 1%
    Wayne Rooney 1%
    David Silva 2%
    Daniel Sturridge 1%
    Luis Suarez 39%
    Robin van Persie 21%

I feel sorry for Torres, People forget quickly,
Won't score on bench that's for sure, And for liverpool the whole time he was there he never was a threat for 90 mins, Like Suarez is, No, He would be always on pitch, But be very quite, then 75 minutes, TORRES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL WINS US GAME, He would nearly always take his chance and win us game,But be quite for 90 mins too !!! He was first name on team sheet at liverpool,, No matter how quite he was no one cared, he could go 88 mins and do feck all then win us game in 90 min,Least we played him

Chelsea expect to much from him, Play him for 15 mins here and there, HA
He should be first name on team sheet there, He would have lots of goals if he was played for 90 mins week in week out

People forget how he was at liverpool, A ghost for most of the game, Where is Torres????????????

75 min GOAL!!! THERE HE IS!!!!!!!!!!!! TORRES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:P

Really? I actually think he would have suited this Liverpool team perfectly. Himself, Saurez and Maxi could play some wonderful link up play between them.

Also considering Downing has been a hell of a lot worse, i wouldn't call it dodging a bullet! :)

Yea, give me Henderson, Downing or two thirds of Andy Carroll any day

We need midfield to get beyond Suarez, That's where our lack of goals lie
relying no much on Suarez,But the lack of forward runs from our midfield gives us our great defensive record,So its a balance that is not quite right,Who cares if we let in a goal,If we can score two in a game,
Maxi has stepped up recently ,But for how long

Same could be said of Carroll - he won't score many coming on for 10 mins and getting little service.

    Merry Christmas
