Another case of not beating a team we should be putting away if we want top 4. very disappointed

Downing needs to be told to just let the ball in.

Too many times he gets too clever and gets in a position to cross and drags the ball back.

If its in the box it at least has a chance of goal opportunity.

This is Winger play 101 ffs.

he needs to be told to fcuk off full stop

I know there is a lot of talk of lacking creativity etc but I think what we really lacked was Lucas. Wigan had way too much control of the match for large parts of it.

Also really disappointed again with the whole Carroll situation and how again Downing and Bellamy didn't swap sides! Am I missing something?

Looked to be playing the ball with his wrong foot. Any reason why he's on the wrong wing?

Too many poor players out there tonight. I keep saying it but Downing has been a bitter bitter disappointment this season. Kuyt had another one of his mares.

What was the point of the Shelvey substitution??? Totally ineffective when he came on, seemed to be playing in an advanced role, WTF??

Well done to Martinez and Wigan - perfect tactics: totally stifled Liverpool in the second half and probably should have won it late on.

Bitterly disappointed in that peformance, even though we had the chances, we lacked that aggressive bite that I was expecting.

What's going on with the SS commentators with Suarez? The way they're talking you'd swear he's just lost a relative or come back from injury or something. 'He must be commended... Hasn't let the manager down' etc etc. I thought they were against racism!?

Liverpool never looked like winning it, to be honest.

They dominated the 1st 25 mins.

Could have got a couple at that stage.

    Wigan came back after that.

    Missed pen. too

When people think Enrique was great it kind of sums up the team. All effort but not much delivery or punch.

hes being played on the wrong wing. Consistently. If kenny was such a good manager he would have realised it doesn't work and switched him.

Not so easy beating Wigan is it lads?

    Very dissapointed..
    Enrique actually was good.
We didn't create enough decent chances and it looked like we let frustration get the better of us near the end..

Also, i like the look of Victor Moses, and he's still very young..
Keep the faith though.. Roll on Blackburn :)

The problem with downing is most of the time there is no one in the box to cross it too, Suarez is not going win many headers.

the elephant in the room is the signings. They have been poor, theres no excuses.

Downing was a strange signing considering the style of fluid football Kenny wants to play. Carroll is on the way out aswell i'd imagine, very disheartening for a striker to only get 4 minutes when your team is deadlocked at 0-0

Too open in midfield, no ball winner, very little guile in supporting areas going forward, and desperate lack of a finisher.

Its just so disjointed. The build up is far too slow, but its also understandable given the lack of pace in the side.

The only positive is the emergence of Agger and Skrtel as an excellent partnership. We are not going to get 4th unfortunately and questions will be asked given the money spent in the summer its a simple as that, although no doubt excuses will be made for coming up short.

Sunderland, Swansea, Norwich, Wigan, losses to Stoke and Fulham, this is poor stuff.

Sure theres a feel good factor with a nicer brand of football, but we can only really go forward (in terms of signing the best players) with Champions league football.

We had a run of bad games where luck was not on our side, players missing chances they should be scoring, and decisions going against us, but the last few games we have really picked ourselves up and have been playing superbly...Delighted with the point tonight, and feel we could of nicked it right at the end, a point each was a the fair outcome

SS as in Sky Sports, if that's confusing you... Other than that I'm lost as to what you don't understand.

The problem with Downing Niallo is he can't cross the ball all that well tbh. I know people go on and on about the Carroll signing for 35m but tbh Downing was a shocking piece of business for 20m odd.

You're right about the signings Jayo. We're going about things in the right way on the pitch but the quality in terms of playing staff just isn't there. Adam and Enrique have improved the team for sure but the others have been huge let-downs.

Carroll, Downing and Henderson: £75+ Million for that??! Who's to blame?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,372 ✭✭✭✭Mr Alan

Been very happy with Henderson over the last month or two tbh.

Downing too has been decent without spectacular.

The issue is entirely upfront-we need to start putting the ball in the net. We are dominating games. Playing decent football. Defensively excellent. We just not doing it upfront. That's everyone (with the exception of Bellamy).

I have seen nothing to suggest that a Liverpool revival is going to happen any time soon. Nor do I have confidence that kenny is the man to deliver success. And no this is not the start of an idiotic 'kenny out' campagain. Just an observation that despite significant investment in the team and 12 months in charge progress is apparently absent.

Harsh on Henderson. He's young and is showing promise. Carroll is still young but the price paid for what imo is an average centre forward is questionable. Downing there is just no excuses for.
