    Team News:

Wigan have a fitness concern over Colombian striker Hugo Rodallega, who picked up an injury in the weekend draw against Chelsea.
Defender Emmerson Boyce is back in training following his recent hamstring injury but is not ready to return.

Liverpool midfielder Jay Spearing serves the final game of his three-match ban.
Kenny Dalglish may opt to rest Craig Bellamy, while Steven Gerrard is still sidelined with an ankle injury.

    • Liverpool are looking for a third successive league win for the first time this season.
    • If selected, Glen Johnson will be making his 200th career league start.
    • Wigan have won just once (against QPR) at home all season. However, they have drawn two of their last three at the DW Stadium.

I am also looking for my third successive league thread posting win for the first time this season, it's my first attempt.
    /fingers crossed.

Dunno why Bellamy would be rested. More interesting is whether Suarez will be playing. I hope so but KD might just decide to spare him the abuse he'll get.

There would also be question marks whether his head is in the right place or not.

    I think he'll play though.

Would love to see Suarez get the armband tonight.

I hope Suarez plays, he will be missing for too many games without resting him before the bans starts.

all our players will wear "Suarez 7" shirts in the warm up apparently.

Love to see the same team as the weekend.

Bellamy has to start I think, he is the man in form

Why? To try and get the ban down to 7 games?

Better tell the FA that, they've gone and banned him and branded him "Guilty"

And we don't care until they reveal the basis of that judgement, and the basis is found to be sound and reasonable grounds for same.

anyway to the game. wigan will be on a high after the chelsea draw but i expect a professional performance from the pool. so 2 - nil to liverpool with kuyt getting of the mark and of course luis suarez :D

He is not banned yet. The ban depends on whether or not the club appeals, and if an appeal is made, then whether or not there is a ban depends on how the appeal goes.

But there is a grand big thread open for discussion on that, so I won't annoy the mods by starting a chat on it in a match thread.

Back to tonight's game, and I expect a very solid performance from Liverpool tonight. I expect lots and lots of chances similar to the Villa game and if the finishing is poor again then I expoect another 2 nil win, but if the finishing is good tonight Wigan could be in for a 4 or 5 goal kicking. Very very confident of a result tonight, and the travelling support will be kicking things up a notch as well.

I'm confident too, but perversely, the more confident I am going into a game, the more I expect a poor result.

That would be ridiculous. Support the lad, absolutely. We don't need to make him captain tonight to do that.

I hope the travelling fans sing their hearts out for Luis tonight .

I know it's premature when we aint seen the FA evidence but surely the club would not have gone out in a limb with their statement if the FA had some other evidence .

Oops sorry just seen the point about the racism thread .

Off Wigan fans? He'll be lucky. I assume Liverpool have sold their allocation should be able to drown them out if the need arises.

I'd imagine there'd be plenty of away fans in the home end too. Wigan is relatively close to Liverpool, and they rarely sell out

    Home win.

Not so sure Suarez will get the terrible abuse at away grounds that people think. He might do for the perception of him as one who goes to ground easily, and he was getting that anyway. Plenty of Chelsea fans sang "Anton ferdinand, you know what you are etc". Anyway, i won't get into that here.

Surprised at the news Bellamy might be rested. Don't think he needs it. I'd like to see Maxi myself at some stage. I think playing Carroll here would be playing to Wigan's strengths (if i can use that word with Wigan!). A night for Pass and Move Liverpool Groove, lets carve them open on the ground.

    Three points, don't care how.

No, doesn't happen at the DW, to buy a ticket to get into the game tonight your name would have to be on a list on the computers, its a way of trying to stop away fans of getting into the home area, so no trouble could happen.

Anyway, can't wait for the game tonight, after a great performance against Chelsea im hopeful of maybe snatching what would be a very valuable point, could well be the night for Sammon to show his strenghts...FEED THE FISH AND HE WILL SCORE :)

Apparently a statement from the players is going to go up on the website soon.

    Anyway, 2-1 to Liverpool.

Do you need credits or something to qualify for a ticket?

Surprised the likes of Wigan don't dramatically increase the away section when playing the likes of Utd or Liverpool if they're not going to sell out

    Decent bench too.

To be honest, i don't think there is room for Carra on that bench tonight. We have Coates, and Kelly there too. The lack of pace when Carra is at the back is a killer. I'd like to see the extra spot given to someone else at this stage, even considering his service and he's a great pro etc etc.

Think carra is in as an emergency centre mid on that bench
