As much as i dislike thatchers politics I think this is a bit below the belt.

If Thatcher's funeral was put out to tender it would be in keeping with her values though.

    Consistency and all that.

I just dont understand, with all the tyrant politicians we have, including our own, why she is singled out as a hate figure. I think it's because she's a woman and it makes people's masculinity uncomfortable to be honest, this is probably the root cause.

That's just Freudian bollocks. Mammy tried to cut off my penis and all that*.

    No offence.

    *May not be Freudian analysis.

She should be given a state funeral just like Churchill did.

I don't think it is, I think the idea of a stern strong woman in power frightens men and seems to start all this chest beating and rabbling that goes on when she's mentioned.

:p:p Margaret Thatcher has been admitted to hospital.
She is not expected to live - her condition is described as satisfactory :D;);)

    Cos she was a cunt.

    And it's hatred.

I would have thought that, with the hostility towards the occupy movements and anyone with a non-capitalism leaning, she would have been more popular.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

In what way is he singled out? I would say her contemporary of the time president Regan probably gets more overall hatred. Or maybe gorbachov?

There's plenty of world leaders who have been hated more than maggie before her time, during, and after.

I just dont understand why you think she's been singled out and making it a gender issue is nonsense.

Amazing that some Irish people glorify her.

The only people that hated her more than the Irish were the English.

The English didn't hate her. If they did she wouldn't have won three general elections.

    Na.

Men pay for that kinda shit usually.

She wasn't exactly womanly anyway was she?

.....getting, as a best ever result, the support of 42% of the electorate. What a resounding fucking mandate.

Yeah but surely she'd be looking for maximum value for the tax-payer so leaving it until she's dead might cost the tax-payer too much.

    Just sayin.

Ronald Reagan planned his multi-million dollar funeral meticulously AFAIK. Why couldn't she?

Yeah, because we've never had a hated individual in this country win three general elections..........

The English as a whole couldn't have hated her, otherwise she wouldn't have won three general elections.

That's Ireland, though. Thatcher was the PM of the United Kingdom. It's usually rare for a hated person in the UK to win three elections on the trot.

George Bush won two, got the US into a war based on lies, will have cost the US trillions of dollars and tens of thousands of lives by the time the dust settles.

Majorities don't always make good decisions.

I know an awful lot of English people who did, and quite a few of them were staunch Tories.

I bet she's still fondly remembered in the towns and cities that became unemployment blackspots thanks to her.

Isn't it usually rare anywhere? But, like you said, that's Ireland! :D The land where logic is defied on a daily basis.

Or is it because she backed homophobic legislation, refused to enact sanctions against apartheid south africa, caused needless hardship, was a cheerleader for Reagan when the US was funding brutal regimes across latin America, the dismissive arrogance, the flagwaving cockology.....

Yeah, but you're a British nationalist of the most rightwing John Bull type so that's not surprising in fairness.

She should be dragged in front of a war crimes tribunal for many things, such as authorising a shoot-to-kill policy against the native Irish forces of resistance in the occupied Six Counties (John Stalker, anybody?), supporting and arming the Indonesian genocide of the East Timorese, fully supporting the apartheid régime in South Africa (members of which gave her Tory Party millions in funding around the time she referred to Mandela as a "terrorist"), supporting child-murdering dictators like Pinochet while lecturing others about "terrorism" and "human rights", and so much else.

Only the most backward, blinkered and undereducated British nationalist could admire this murdering hypocritical wench.

The highest she ever got was 42%, not exactly setting England alight.

I can see she is still very much loved, what with the cabinet wanting to privatise her funeral.

The irony is like a fine steak, ****ing delicious.
