    JenChang88 Jen Chang
Looks like LFC might edge Swansea in race for Rory Donnelly - Donnelly met with Swansea Monday but apparently expected at Melwood Tuesday

Would rather we were linked to Spartak's striker than that of CSKA.

    Welliton?

TBH I'd take both in a heartbeat, we need that type of pacy striker in our team.

yep Welliton. I reckon a finisher with his skill and pace would be lethal in a team that creates as many chances as Liverpool does.

Have you any goss non potential transfer targets for January Kess?

I'd love to see Hoilet arrive from Blackburn think he could be good as a wide right attacking option

People seem to think it will be today but the FA just said it won't be before Tuesday not that it would be on Tuesday.

I could make up lots of goss on non potential targets if ya like. :p

The only gossip I have heard is pretty much the same list of players that have already been mentioned on here.

The talk of an established CB is still floating about. Godin being the name that gets mentioned the most.

The CM talk is of a big money bid for M'Vila. With Arsenal being the other English club linked to him. £20m to £25m is price range being spoken of. Cannot see that happening to be honest but he would be a monster of a player to get if it did, and imho he could easily take the place of Lucas for the rest of this season and also play alongside him next season. At 21 He is younger than Lucas but I think he could already be a better all round midfielder than any of the midfielders we have right now and I include Lucas in that.

I've just read something on RAWk that got me thinking (!), teams have defence coaches as a matter of course. Clarke has done great things since taking over that role, why don't we have a dedicated coaching at the other end of the pitch? The names mentioned in the post were Ian Rush, Alan Shearer and Robbie Fowler.

Rushie was on the staff under Ged and has a full set of badges managing the Wales U17s and Chester City. I reckon he would be a fine appointment.

    Speaking of Clarke

Are there any realistic striker options out there? Or will Kenny figure out a way to get the best out of Andy Carroll?

Expect it to be in the new year so.

Loads of fine strikers out there, getting one that bangs in the goals is the trick.:)

I think Bent would have a field day up front for us, but I just can't stand him or at least the persona he projects.

A Huntelaar style of player would be great, an out and out poacher.

But if we wanted to spend fairly big, then Welliton would be my choice to gamble on. Very fast, two good feet, lots of skill, and pretty clinical in the box.

I think that if a striker is on the cards that going for a young player who may have the potential to be good in a few years would be a mistake, what is needed is a player who has a track record of scoring, and who has a good coversion rate in terms of goals to chances/attempts.

As good as Bent is I couldn't justify the amount of cash we would have to pay for him. Especially with Carroll not doing the business at his price. As Kess says there are plenty of goal-scorers out there it is just a matter of finding the right one.

Not a fan of Bent either - any man that puts shopping before football has no place at Anfield :)

Always thought Van Huntelaar would do well for us but will admit to having no clue of his recent form or fitness.

26 goals from 25 games this season in the Bundesliga.

225 goals from 354 games since the 2002/03.

Even at the clubs he "flopped" at, he had a good goals to games ratio.

He may not do much away from the final third, but if you want a player who simply pops the ball in the net more often than noit, then he would not be a bad shout.

I know he's Dutch, but not every Dutchman is called Van :pac:

Season and a half with Suarez at Ajax, did they play any good together?

Maybe we would see a better Andy Carroll if him and Bellamy got a run of games together. If, god forbid, Suarez gets banned or injured
If we were to spend big on a new striker now would it be writing off Andy Carroll for LFC ?

Huntelaar's goals in the time he played with Suarez

    07/08: 36 goals from 45 games

    08/09: 9 goals from 15 games

Is that not exactly what we are looking for, someone to score goals. Better ring Kenny and tell him :)

Theres something about Huntelaar that has always made me skeptical about signing him. Yeah he has a great record for scoring goals but in terms of contributing to a team outside of that he just doesn't do it.

He's not one of the the quickest, nor the strongest players around either. I would definitely like to see us sign someone with a bit more pace as I think its what this current Liverpool team is crying out for.

Welliton as mentioned by Kess, or Podolski(albeit his goalscoring record isn't outstanding) is someone I would love to see join the club.

We probably should have taken a punt on Shane Long. Unpredictable, great acceleration, and he's a fantastic finisher - he even scored a brilliant header two weeks ago for West Brom.

I wonder how much Roy would let us have him for? :)

I might have said this before, but the best description I've ever heard of goals in the Dutch league is that they're football's equivalent of dog years.

So it would appear that Kenny confirmed in his press conference today that he may add to the squad in January.

Interesting if he did actually say that as he is normally typically cryptic and evasive about these issues. I know that he obviously didn't confirm where he would like to add or the money he has but no doubt the names will start flying around from now.

Huntelaar and Podolski are two players who have never fully convinced me for some reason, for opposite reasons. Whenever I have watched Huntelaar play he has not contributed to the play much and has been poor, but his goal scoring stats are pretty impressive. Podolski on the other hand always impresses me when I watch him, but his goal scoring stats are pretty poor.

That said I would like to see either come to the club, but imagine they wouldn't be cheap!

    108 in 277 club appearances.
    43 in 91 internationals.
    Poor?
