Clearing A Cheque?!!

I received my student grant today, cheque format of course. I spoke to Ulster Bank and my Local Credit Union and both said it would take 7 working days and i really need the money for christmas! Is there any way to clear the cheque faster?

Lodge into you UB account 1st thing Monday and you'll be able to withdraw the funds from the ATM on wed/thur morning.

Failing that explain to your branch manager and I'm sure they would agree to give you some of the funds on Monday.
