    Following Malice's awesome suggestion.

I will start with not only my favourite tubby musician, but my favourite musician ever.

Brian Wilson - The twentieth century's greatest and quirkiest musical genius

    Make your suggestions.

Here's what he looked like when they were signed

    I think off.the.walls was on.the.ball.

    I already figured that out.

There's lot's of overweight musicians, some I really love, but as a percentage of the whole they represent about 1/10th of one percent.

That being said, it's all a personal choice.. if you wanna be an overweight musician, I won't judge you, but there's a LOT of people that will.

For the record, I much preferred fat Elvis.

This thread isn't about you, nor is it about fat musicians getting signed.

My thread, my standards, etc. ;)

    That's why I listed Elvis.

And yet you felt the need to post a picture of a skinny Brian Wilson. Why?

So if this isn't about fat musicians getting signed, why is it in bands and musicians and not the general music forum?

What does it have to being in a band or a musician?

    Sigh

And yet you felt the need to post a picture of a skinny Brian Wilson. Why?

Because I'd disagree he's an overweight musician, and as you are aware of the content of the other thread I decided to reference that, in the context of this thread.

Like I've always said, I personally don't have anything against overweight musicians. But Brian Wilson isn't really a great example. He got chunky when he was old, but back when he was a genius he wasn't really all that big... that was the point of my photo... of course, who's to say if all the beach boys looked like BW did 67-69, they'd have been fired... on top of all of that... it was the 60s... people were a lot let image concious then...

    Another great example is Janis...

Go into the 80s and it's a lot harder to find popular overweight artists... worse still in the 90s... etc., etc.

Adele is a great step forward IMO, but... I have heard out of the mouth of someone from her label that Adele was pushed as a "alternative" to the skinny girls as a cynical move... she's "real" etc.

Other great examples would be Frank Black...

You've just hijacked this guy's thread after giving out about your own thread being hi-jacked.

    Do not do steroids.

If you wanna do it the famous musician way, try cocaine, cigarettes and bulimia.

    Dont do that either.

Big mention for Tom "Pig Champion" Roberts (front) and Jerry A. (right) of punk legends Poison Idea. Took enough drugs to kill a herd of elephants too.

Also the Conner brothers in Screaming Trees, they made Mark Lanegan look like a twiglet.

They don't get much heavier or better than Big Pun. He was 780 pounds at his heaviest, just before he died from a heart attack.

    ****en yes. Some mates played this song at a session a while ago, I was completely blown away, the sickest two bars I've ever heard;

"Dead in the middle of Little Italy little did we know that we riddled to middle men who didn't do diddly"

I don't really see the point of this thread, but if I need to find the biggest people I can think of in the music Industry today (two people I've recently met and spoken too at length about weight and what not, considering I struggle with my own) then they would have to be Chris Burnley, Byron Stroud and Dino Cazares
