I haven't used either, but the Ferguson is a combo, so it will allow you to receive Irish DTT channels as well as satellite.

There are several combos from Opticum, this would be the entry level model.

I like the look of this Xoro combo, as it allows two simultaneous recordings.

What I'd like to find out is whether you can access your recordings while a recording is ongoing. I think I read that the Ariva 120 won't let you do this, which would rule that one out for me, but I'm open to correction.

Depends on where you are but generally the 60cm size dish is usually large enough, like what sky use, check if u see any in your area.

I think its mainly the SW of Ireland that requires a bigger dish.

Bigger dish also recommended for the Donegal/the NW.

What channels are you hoping to get? If you want the Irish ones, you'll also need an aerial, only the UK channels are available with a dish.

I'm in dublin so I should be OK. I want the list of channels they provide on the link for the ferguson. I presume it works vice versa? I need the dish to pick up English channels? I aerial isn't enough?

You need a Dish for UK TV. A real "Freesat HD" receiver is a better buy.
