I pin a tenner to my Bin every christmas and put it out at the road end the night before as its collected a 7am in the morning, the tenner is always gone the next day but i have yet to receive a thank you note from the bin man. Thats gratitude for ya...he can fugg off with himself this year!

Absolutely not. The same way that I wouldn't tip the guy at the petrol station or the person in McDonalds. They get paid already

This used to happen when the Corpo provided the pick ups. I think it was a free service. Now you are charged for rubbish removal, Not many will give a tip.

When in the pub, the lounge boy still charges for my drink. But I still leave him a tip.

But no I won't be running up the road after the bin truck waving a 20 note at them. Even when you leave one bag over they won't take it so **** em..

Yup u pay enough for your rubbish to be taken away , but should u give the bin man a few bob ?
It was very common in rural areas years ago to give him something .

All public servants that you interact with should be tipped. And tipped well. Their wages are cut to bits.

Maybe he doesn't go to work loaded with thank you cards?

Could have a bit of fun with this and tell the bin men that their tips is inside the bins and they have to go find it!

Maybe a few years ago when you weren't paying an extra tax for it and bin men were much more likely to give you a dig out with getting rid of non-standard rubbish.

FFS! I'm in the public service and that's a ridiculous comment.

The non-PS bin collection is a service I pay a lot for already, so not paying the bin man twice! I'm sure he gets a Christmas bonus. I don't.

Maybe if you were nicer to people you'd get more tips. You seem aggressive. Aggressive public servants don't get good tips, don't you know.

No. I don't deal with the public. I deal with a lot of public servants who whine about the cuts though.

Besides, you never said "nice public servants", you said:
All public servants that you interact with should be tipped
, thus there'd be no incentive for me to be nice if I did deal with the public.

So, it's your fault the public service is as crap as the public make out. You want to reward the good and bad equally. :)

FWIW, when I did deal with the public I was nice.

im going to give my binman a tea bag and say 'have a drink on me'

I would give them a tip if they were the regular collectors but the crews keep changing all the time, not giving a tip to some langer who's first time it is on the run and who hasn't collected off me all year - that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it !;)

In fairness to the lot of them they always take extra bags when I leave them out, never a problem

Every Christmas I go around checking everyone's bin for tenners that may have been taped to them.

    Make a fortune!

    Always tip the binman.

You never know when you'd need to get rid of a body.
