"Soarview Approved" TVs?

    This might sound like a silly question - but are TVs sold as "Soarview Approved" ready to pickup soarview directly off the coax coming from the aerial without any set top box etc?

    If so surely Soarview Ready would be better terminology? :)

    "Saorview approved" means it has been tested to comply with the necessary current and future standards. Some dodgy shops sell "saorview compatible" or other such phraseology to sell sets that may or may not comply with all standards.

    Which is a "Philips 32 Led Saorview Tv " and has one of those "Soarview Approved" tags on the product sheet....

    I presume this has a built in Mpeg 4 tuner that can receive and decode and does not need an additional soarview set top box?

    Yes it would have a Mpeg4 tuner built in. Harvey Norman have the same make and size but not that model from what i can see. You should have a look on their website. A few full HD models available.

    ANY video device can be made to work with a suitable adaptor and set-box. So Saorview ready is even more meaningless than HD Ready, which basically means a TV that isn't HD but can show an HD signal via HDMI.

    So don't buy anything with "ready" in the name as that means it's not ready :)
