The OP has not revealed this vital information yet, could be €100, could be €5.

I remember when I was 15 or 16, me and two other mates went camping (about 200 yards from where we lived :D) one weekend. It was basically a small forest by the side of the road anyway we were pitching our tent when one of the lads went off for a pee, two minutes later he came back with a black Nike rucksack, it wasn't dirty or damaged it looked like it had just been bought brand new, he opened it up and pulled out 20 large brown envelopes, the 3 of us began opening them and low and behold they were full of wads of €50 notes tied with elastic bands. We counted each and every envelope, in each one there was 10 bundles of €1000. In total there was €200,000 in the rucksack.

At this stage we were excited and scared at the same time, we came to the conclusion that this was probably drug money or ill gotten gains of some sort. In our wisdom (stupidity) we decided to put the money back exactly where we found it and go home, we decided we would come back the next day and hopefully it would still be there. As we were walking down the road we were discussing how we would spend "our" money, how the three of us would never have to get a job, etc.

We skipped up to the spot where the rucksack had been found, removed the sticks and leaves but there was no bag, nothing! Were we in the right place we asked, we searched the whole forest for 2 hours and came up with nothing, the bastards had come back.

Why didn't we just take it home with us the first time? I really don't know....

I saw that film too - what was it called 'No Country for Young Boys'?

Did she sound "sexy" on the phone?
You could have met her had a free ride and then tell her it wasn't hers and then €x euro to spend on beer and sweets!

"A while ago I found a small bit of money"

I'm guessing it was no more than E50, but more than E15 as he bothered to report it.

"Me: I'm not going to say that but it was a lot less than x euros."

It was obviously a small amount and a lot less than the what the women claimed to have lost, realistically if she's telling fibs she probably wouldn't have claimed more than E70.

So if she claimed to have lost E50 is E20 "a lot" less?

    I'm guessing it was E25-E35.

She sounds like a right cow & you were clearly right not to tell her how much.

I hope I never find a murder victim so.

    The conversation went like this:
    Me: Hi is this <person>?
    Her: It is indeed
Me: I've just been contacted by <garda station>, I found a body a while ago and you lost someone?
    Her: I did indeed
    Me: What was the age?
    Her: x years old.
Me: That's far off what I found, I found a lot younger than that.
Her: How old did you find?
Me: I'm not going to say that but it was a lot less than x years old.
    Her: What was it in?
Me: I'm not going to say anything other than that but it was a lot less than x.
Her: Can I meet you some where?
Me: I did not find anything remotely near x years old so I don't see the point.
Her: Have you still the body?
    Me: I do yeah
Her: So why are you ringing me if it's not my mother?
Me: I was ringing to find out if it is your mother that I have.
    Her: What way was it?
Me: I found it on the ground beside my car, I contacted <garda station> to say I found a body and they gave me your number.
    Her: Around <date>
Me: I found it after that, it was over a week later.
Her: and did you go away on holidays or something?
Me: No, I only got an email off them there this morning so I had to go through all my old emails to find the original as they only mark their emails customer service and not the name of the garda station so I generally delete emails like that as they're usually spam.
Her: This is no scam that I lost my mother.
Me: I know but I'm not going to tell you the age incase you try and get someone to claim it.
Her: I've been waiting to get my mother back since <a fair while ago>, I've paid <garda> to look at the CCTV and I've contacted the guards.
Me: I appreciate all that but I just found a body, I contacted <garda station> and I'm just trying to do something right here.
Her: Why didn't you hand in the body to <garda station> and let <garda station> sort it out?
Me: but sure I told them I have the body.
Her: Sure I'll meet you at <garda station>
Me: Nooo, I don't have your mother, I have somebody elses mother.
Her: Tell me, what was the age?
Me: As I said, I'm not going to tell you how old it was.
Her: Can you tell me what it was in?
Me: Nooo, I'm not giving any more information.
Her: Well then you know the gards are to this, right?
    Me: Yeah
Her: Yeah, so I'll get back onto <garda station> again, I'm in contact with some <name>, I'll have to get to the bottom of this.
Me: It's nothing to do with me now, I just found some body, I told <garda station> I found some body, they gave me your number, I've contacted you, the age is completely different and it was on a completely different day so as far I'm concerned I'm finished with your completely seperate issue.
Her: I just cant understand you won't meet me.
Me: I don't see why, I did not find your mother.
Her: Why did <garda station> give you the number.
Me: You reported a missing body.
Her: Why are you getting back to me now?
Me: I'm ending this conversation now because....
Her: Why didn't you get back to me before?
Me: I'm ending this conversation because you're trying to pin something on me
Her: No, no I'm not, I'm just asking why you didn't get in contact with me before now?
Me: I only got an email this morning, I have nothing to do with <garda station>, I was a customer.
    Her: Like I was?
Me: Yeah, so I really don't see why you're asking all these questions? I'm trying to do something good.
    Her: Why.......
Me: I'm ending this conversation right now, thanks, bye.

I found an iPhone once outside of a busy nightclub, phone was blocked with a password, and I didn't trust the bouncer with the phone, so left my number.

Got a call latter that day from a "young wan" with a thick Cork accent. Conversation went something like this . . .

    *ring ring*
    *me picks up* - Hello
Young wan - Here, you have my iphone, can you bring it over to my house.
Me - Umm, well, can you tell me any distinguishing features about the phone
    Young wan - Ya wha'?
Me - Just to make sure it's yours, can you tell me about it
Young wan - Ah come on now, like they're all the same. (Angrily) When can I get it back?
Me - (diplomatically) Ok, well if it's yours; what's your screensaver then?
Young wan - I don't remember, now c'mere, if I can't get my phone back, I'm reporting this number to the Guards
Me - You should be able to identify the screensaver, it's completely obvious, I'll give you a hint, it's a famous man
Young wan - Peter Andre (!!!??),
Me - No, you're not even close (it was Christian Bale). I am hanging up now
Young wan - Noooo, nooo, etc.
    Me - good bye *click*

The real owner called later that day and was only too thankful to get her phone back.

Have been on the other end of losing things too many times. Most important thing I ever lost was returned to me though. Lost my wedding ring in Derry City as a newlywed awhile back. Phoned the local radio station and was put in touch with a man who found it. Met up with the man and thanked him profusely and threw a few quid into his car and ran off as he refused to take any reward, he ran back towards our car and through the money back in. Absolute hero.
