Combo Box recommendation

Apologies if this has been done to death but here goes.

Looking to get a combo Saorview + FTA (UK) sat box for my mother. Have asked re a few and all seem to have limitations. re recording (polarisation dependent etc)

Anything out there that will sort me out.

Essentially want to

A) get rid of the old sky box I have (basically a FTA tuner)

Get Saorview Capability
C) Add recording as an option. Hard drive part is easy but including being able to record 1 and watch another i.e. watch/record..irish/uk uk/irish irish/irish uk/uk

Am I looking for too much...

I personally wouldnt recommend any combo box at the moment as none are Saorview approved as of yet, and all have problems...Triax is reported to be bringing out a new combo box shortly that is to be Saorview approved so it mite be worth the wait.

Yes, it may be worth the wait but considering how bad the 537 is reported to be... not sure if I'll hold my breath

Right so if I scale back my expectations a bit are there some good freesat boxes out there to be bought. Essentially something to replace the sky box but add the + functionality?

P.S. Am assuming any of the freesat boxes in the UK will work here as its all through the Sat?

I've a Humax Foxsat HDR, not cheap, but all the Sky + functions and you can get the HD Freesat channels.

UK Freesat boxes will work fine here.

I've an MVision HD300 combo for awhile, & if there wasn't a constant need to retune FTA channels & the UI was a bit better it would be perfect.

Let me put it this way; if you buy one for an older relative, expect to have to spend an hour every couple of months to sort out the channels. :rolleyes:

The Mvision also plays back avi files, which is great if you have movies etc in avi format, especially for the kids.
