Improving hop-up rubber?

Hi, whenever i take my m16 out after leaving it sitting for a while, it only shoots about 20 meters. As i continually shoot, it gradually gets better and better and then it is great for the rest of the day. However it is quite an inconvenience. There is nothing wrong with the hop-up so i was wondering if there was any way to improve it, maybe by some oil etc

    Thanks

Hop up rubber performance is like tyre temperatures in racing - once they get warm, they perform much better. Friction causes heat, and heat enhances the rubber.

It's not really an inconvenience persay, it just means you should fire off a few rounds before playing - you adjust your hop, get it firing the way you want, and you're sorted :)

I'd have thought it's more likely a crappy rubber, poor chamber or silicone/crud on the rubber.
I understand where you're comming from regarding the warmer rubber = more grip/spin but if that's the case how come the likes of snipers (eg TM VSR10 or any of TM's pistols) shoot well when "cold"

ye i suppose, Its just quite unusual as i dont realy have to do it with any other aeg. Is it a bad idea, spraying silicone oil spray down the chamber? Come to think of it, I also have another gun that will not perform properly atall unless i spray silicone oil down the chamber and on the first few bb's. However i made that gun myself so it may not be perfect:D.

@DefenderDude: It depends on the rubber itself. Softer rubbers, like softer tyres, take much less to warm up. Harder rubber takes longer. In Ireland we traditionally use softer aftermarket rubbers. Most stock rubbers (TM are the exception due to 1J restriction) are made of harder stuff, so take a few BBs before proper effect kicks in. At least that has been my experience with harder rubbers :)

get yourself a guader clear rubber (very soft) and don't spray silicone oil down the barrel unless you are cleaning it. oil will make the rubber useless. Stock rubbers are normally hard and designed for higher FPS just like the original spring in your AEG.

a little bit of oil should only be used on the outside of the rubber to avoid damage when installing or removing into the hopup chamber.

Yes, think i might go for a guarder rubber if i dont get it sorted. Thanks
