Free sky+hd box?

    Hi my sky needs renewal have the old white box with sky but am on the cheapest package of 25pm for the past 3 years. I want to get the sky+hd box for free. If I ring and say im cancelling would this be possible on such a low plan?

    you have to use a slightly different name and address, otherwise it wont be free install. any installer should be able to sort you out.

    No have the old sky + white box don't need installation just want them to send me a new hd box

    would'nt do it for me. ended up telling them to p' off. now they have to pay an installer for new install.

    Got letter this week : offer for existing customers : Free HD box and installation if you take the HD pack for 15€ per month. / That runs until Dec 9th ...

    Or else I called them last week [ want to get a new box as the old white one is on it's last legs ] : told me 40€ for box + 60€ installation

    I went for the Sky+HD upgrade free box and install, engineer called this morning at 8.30 in the storm and rain had it working in an hour, great service and a very nice guy, he even re-aligned a second dish I had on the wall for me.

    I got the free box and install,

    Had to take up a HD package for 12 months thou, i'm find with that, whats the point in getting hd if your not getting a package anyway

    Am in a similiar boat to the OP. Am in the iddle of doing up the front room, which will become the main living room. And so want to get a new sky box for the room (leave the older box in another room for the free channels)
    I have rang sky, and they offered me 25% off my bill for next 12 months. Asked for a hd box, but they would give it out along with a hd package, which, I'm not that fussed about. Otherwise they are looking for 199e + installation.(more interested in the extra recording capacity and the few hd channels that are on offer will surfice. And I need another box).
    I will buy a second-hand box, if I cannot get one from them. I'm happy to pay them for the box,( within reason), but want to install it myself (cables all inplace, so it is literally a case of connecting them to the box and popping in my sky card, and phoning sky to pair them).
    Has anyone bought a stand alone box from sky, at a reasonable price,without the installation fee?

    Im an existing customer on a basic package also and I got a 1TB HD box with free install for €49 last month after signing up to HD @ +€15 pm. We had just a Sky+ box for the last few years.

    which ends up costing €230 for the first year. You do get hd versions for many channels, (which maybe something i might consider further down the line, but for now, not willing to pay €180 a year for it)

    just to update..
    held off on taking up the 25% off offer before Christmas. rang up yesterday and low and behold, they offered me a free sky + hd box and installation, without having to take up the hd package. Still on same tarrif (no discount)
    Which works out as follows: discount would have 6.25 = €75 over the year. A second hand hd box would have cost me at least €50 from someone on adverts. So the box is costing me €25 for a new one (thats how I'm justifing itto myself)
