Hi folks, about to sell a this car and was wondering if I could get advise from the forum members on what's the appropriate price to list it on donedeal. The car is a diesel 2001 (Irish Reg) with 151k miles on the clock with manual transmission. It has 4 new tyres, been serviced in last few months and has been NCT'd to cover next year and half. Cloth interior is spotless and has high spec (as I'd imagine all sporting editions have). I don't have anything to compare to (like for like) on Donedeal as most touring estates on sale are automatic, petrol or are 3 series? Any help would be appreciated.

you're probably best asking on http://www.bmw-driver.net they'll give you a fairly accurate price on it.

That car sounds te exact opposite of high spec (manual, cloth, se)
I'd imagine around 2k maybe a bit less

In a private sale? maybe from a dealer but I can't see it getting that on donedeal

Sorry Subway, would parking sensors,6xmultichanger cd and wood trim finish be considered normal spec in a BMW (pardon my ignorance)?

I'd say around €2k is more likely. At the end of the day it is a 10 year old basic spec BMW diesel with a big engine. Also has high mileage which will scare many Irish buyers off.

OP pitch it at €2.5k on donedeal and see if any calls come through, you never know.

Yep, private sale, it's diesel, has 4 new tyres, 18 months NCT and is serviced. You'd get over €2000 for a petrol 520i that was straight. It won't fetch a grand less because it's a private sale at that end of the market.

Parking sensors would have been extra, the rest is base spec

    €2,000, if it's taxed.
It'll be 11 years old, 2.5 litre, manual, cloth, all driving it's value down.

Bang it up for €2950 and accept no less than €2.5k

My thinking too. I'd hold out for close to €3k. The wagons are rare and do have a following. 2.5l tax is not in its advantage, but it is a modern frugal diesel. The manual won't scare off too many people in a BMW. Cloth interior on the E39 is of exceptionally strong quality. Wouldn't scare most people off either

5k for the one in merchants link is a bit mad though...

Op the rule of thumb is that its worth twice what people will pay and half what your want for it. 2-2.5k is about right. People prefer these to 4x4 these days.

    Solid citizen you are!:P

Isn't it just illegal full stop to be driving a car with the wrong tax disc on it regardless of who taxed it and when. As the driver you are responsible to ensure the vehicle is taxed and insured correctly.
