Swapping hard drive to new ps3

My old PS3 broke down there a few weeks ago, it just refused to turn on (had to take it apart to get my game out!) so bought a new Slim PS3, but is there any way I can stick my old hard drive into the new machine without having to format it? I don't want to lose all my stuff!

Not sure if that will work, but you could try replacing the hard drives.

What you could do is connect the old drive to a PC and copy the data onto it, and then transfer it to the PS3 slim by memory stick.

You might even be able to connect the old harddrive directly to the new PS3 through the usb connection

The HDD is encrypted, if you can't use the original PS3 that it from then there is no way to get anything off it.

Try to get the broken PS3 fix somewhere and then you can easily copy everything off it by connecting the PS3s together over Ethernet.
