Seriously guys, do you not find it insanely tedious picking out every potentially questionable aspect of Liverpool football club, their players or actions and creating circular arguments that cripple not only the superthread but degenerate most matchday threads? It's the same tag-team of folk who continuously involved and i'm positive no other club is subject to such 'inspection.' Healthy balanced debate is all well and good but this is nothing like healthy debate.

Agger didn't set out to do Torres in all fairness.

Yea he did. He went into his first 50/50 encounter with him thunderously & sent him a message. Then gave him **** as he rolled about on the ground if I remember right. I loved it & he was widely applauded for it.

If Song was being a **** (which he was by Carra's account) then I've no issue with Carra lifting him out of it. Long as the challenge doesn't cross into career threateningly dangerous territory.

Some people need to man the **** up.

Anywho ignoring the usuals what do people think of Spearing. These next few weeks are gonna be huge for him and us. I am a bit worried, considering Spearing's recent performances - not that they've been bad performances. On the good front he would be as good a defensive midfielder as any, with the capacity to really make a team tick while maintaining possession. On the back foot though, without a three man midfield we are more vulnerable - simple as. It's good that we have a variety of smaller teams coming up, who with Suarez and other first teamers back, we should beat (but we wont, I'll say, in an attempt to not jinx us) which gives Spearing time to adapt to a subtly different role where he has to get his positioning and timing of the tackle right. People will overplay his physical size - but in a way he's built like a tank. He just needs to snap into tackles.

One thing I would be concerned about if he were playing this role is his block pose. He positions himself from a sort of standoffish position when he faces opponents - something that's fine for the two man screen but if he's the defensive midfielder it might not cut it so much. Also, looking at last seasons chalkboards, he will need to be more proactive in going to win the ball - though not at the cost of making the back four vulnerable.

Like I said, it's good that we have a slew of "smaller" teams coming up - Spearing is almost perfectly suited to face those. But when the tougher opponents roll around, he'll need to have really made the role his. Our champions league hopes depend on him doing just that imo.

It doesn't need backing up its a very simple general statment on the inability of some footabll fans to see the bad as well as the good in their club.

    Lucas's message to Reds fans
    2nd Dec 2011 - Latest News

Lucas Leiva today delivered a heartfelt message to Liverpool fans all around the world for the messages of support they have sent him following news he will miss the remainder of the current season.

It was confirmed on Thursday afternoon the Brazil midfielder will undergo surgery on the anterior cruciate ligament injury he sustained against Chelsea, meaning he will sit out the remainder of the 2011-12 campaign.

Since then, thousands of fans have joined LFC players and staff in sending their 'get well soon' messages to the 24-year-old - and Lucas admits such support will act as a spur as he takes the first steps on the road to full fitness.

"I didn't realise what an impact my injury could make on the fans," he told Liverpoolfc.tv. "A lot of people have been sending me positive messages, and this makes me feel stronger.

"I know at the moment I haven't had time to think too much about the injury and I am just trying to get everything ready for the operation, but I know when I have difficult times during my rehab one of the things that I will remember will be the messages.

"I want to say thank you very much for all the messages the fans have sent me on the website and on my Twitter page too. I have read a lot of them and all of them have been very positive. They have given me more confidence to come back strongly."

Lucas has been inundated with messages from fans and both former and current Reds players on his Twitter pages, while over 2,000 posts were made wishing him a speedy recovery on Liverpoolfc.tv in less than 24 hours.

It's not just those connected to Liverpool who have been in touch with the No.21 as even Chelsea's Juan Mata contacted him to offer his support.

Lucas added: "I have worked hard to get people to believe in me and my football - and I can see the fans appreciate the work I have done.

"Even in difficult times, I have put my head down and worked really hard to achieve things and try to be an important player for the club.

"I want to say many thanks to the fans. There are no words I can say to express how much I appreciate all of the messages and positive thinking all of them are sending to me.

"When I come back onto the pitch, I will repay everything they are doing at the moment for me and keep wearing the shirt with pride.

"They are really important for me because it will be a difficult time and it will be important to have the messages I have received."

The injury comes on the back of three performances in which Lucas was a strong contender for man of the match against Chelsea twice and Manchester City at Anfield.

"I am sure I was in my best form - even when I had a great season in Brazil, it was nowhere near how I was playing here," he said. "It's a pity the injury has come at this moment in time, but there is never a good time to have an injury.

"I have spoken with a lot of friends and other players, 80 per cent of other players have had an injury but came back stronger and are playing fantastic football. That's what I am trying to focus on.

"When I come back, the image the fans have of me will be of the last three games I played against Chelsea, City and Chelsea again - and I will use those games to give me more motivation to come back stronger and fitter.

"I think I will be stronger mentally as well because it is a difficult time for me, but I will deal with it and I won't give up because it is not part of my character."

Lucas will now join fans in cheering Liverpool on in the remainder of the season - and he's already dreaming of joining his teammates at Wembley next year if they can go all the way in the Carling Cup.

He said: "Now I will be another fan, supporting the team, watching the games and I am already hoping I will be at Wembley to get a medal.

"I have to support my teammates, hopefully they will have a very good season and next season I will come back to play an important role in the team again.

"I have never had any doubts about Liverpool Football Club or the fans, but this kind of thing just shows how special the Liverpool fans are. I am sure all throughout my recovery the fans will be sending me messages.

"All of my life, and in my career here at Liverpool, nothing has been easy. It's another obstacle but I am sure I will achieve everything I dream of in a Liverpool shirt and I will be back sooner than people expect."

The fella oozes class and is a ideal role model to all kids out there , and I for one can't wait to see him back playing .
I can just imagine the noise/roar when he runs onto the pitch again .

    Hurry back Lucas .

So, did Andy Carroll caost £50m or Torres + £15m.

I much preferred that topic. Net spend, or something Rafa related perhaps?

    Suppose .

    But every club has;
    - numpty fans that boo their own
    - fellow pro's that try break another up
    - dick head fans that sing sickening chants
    - managers that have selective hearing/sight
    - players that simulate a foul
    Etc

Yet many a poster will never see this nor will certain threads stop doing full circle on some of the topics above .

Ye are giving us £10m to take him off your hands? We'll consider it, but we might want more.

It was only a small number of fans (not tiny, but not a majority) for a small number of games. It happens so rarely at Liverpool (Poulsen being another possible candidate) that it was noteworthy for being out of character when it happened, but some fans are a lot more fickle these days.

precisely, we get certain people coming on here time and time again reminding us how blinkered and fickle us Liverpool fans are as if magically being fickle and blinkered is exclusive to Liverpool fans alone or that perhaps they have done surveys and out of 100 liverpool fans we have a higehr ratio of fickled and blinkered fans than other clubs

    what they don't realise is

    1. being "blinkered" and "fickle" all depends on what side of the fence you are sitting on and surprise, surprise ALL SPORTS FANS (note, not just liverpool fans whom you obsess over) are somewhat blinkered and fickle to other sports fans

    2. taking the time out to visit liverpool threads, commenting on every likely Liverpool-related incident that is any way divisive and generally obsessing over what Liverpool fans think and how they view the world is the surest sign possible that you yourself are doing pretty well in the "blinkered" and "fickle" stakes, indeed seeing the need to constantly lecture the fans of a team you don't even support and trying to label them and needle them on an ongoing basis suggests perhaps you should look in the mirror to see what is truly blinkered or fickle behaviour....fair enough a lot of the lads here strongly support the team and are loyal and steadfast in that support but I don't see most of them constantly badgering supporters of other teams and entering other forums to debate every conceivable issue and critique the integrity of those fans

Quite ironic really that you say everyone visiting and commenting in the Liverpool thread is blinkered while not taking into account that the exact same thing happens when the shoe is on the other foot.

If I make some outlandish biased claim in the United thread,it wouldn't be long before a few lads from here rolled up to put me in my place.Works both ways kiddo.

    He didn't say everyone ?

In fact you could post that in the UTD super thread and it would also be relevant , so there is no shoe on any other foot it's just a stupidity that we will need to live with .

Sorry meant everyone that he was on about and yea that was my whole point, that it's not just this thread that has opposing fans with alternative points of view.

There are blinkered fans in every thread. Because of it's size I think it's more evident in this thread. However, complaining about general one-sidedness or that a team superthread has a number of 'blinkered' posters is pointless. There are far more posters who are reasonable and capable of having a proper discussion, and moaning about biased opinions and making generalisations about the thread's posters will only serve to derail it.

There's a few posters in here who've blocked fellow Liverpool-supporting posters because of what they're posting. If someone's too blinkered/ignorant/biased for you, do the same.

Back on topic, I'd rather Glen Whelan come in than Lee Cattermole. That said, Kenny seemed fairly happy with the understudies already in the squad in the presser today. I doubt we'll bring in a DM in January.

Nah, it's pretty simple what happened, clear as day.

The United superthread is quiet for weeks, a few posters have been banned from there, couple of pool supporters stirring included.

It's boring over there now, so witness the usuals posting more and more on pool threads.

Basically, they're bored, nobody to row with so the next available option is........

The "what about poor muppet" moan has been addressed on the United thread now. No need for the persecution complex anymore.

Is the Muppet banned, yeah? I was only reading his posts and the likes of Boggles etc in the Lucas thread. If i were them, i'd be more than embarressed to come back on the soccer forum?

The famous word 'delusional' was used in that that thread also! Good times!

The moan was the Muppet was just a stand alone ban to assuage pool fans.

That had a certain truth. Not anymore as the mods, fair play, banned a few sh*t stirrers recently.

The United thread is quiet since and Liverpool match and now the super threads have suffered.

Basically, "the muppet rule" is now invoked on all threads.

A bye product is the United thread is boring now, so the few posters who thrived on the drama there are bored now, hence the increased activity on pool threads.

You recall how quiet this thread was when the United thread was busy? They need an argument, club loyalty is irrelevant, Liverpool is handy though.
