Who is the person here who likes Huddlestone?

Spurs probably wouldnt sell him to us though.

    That would be me.

Would not regard him as the kind of player to replace Lucas though.

No? Do you think hes more a Adam type player?

WHAAAAAA'? All he is supposed to have is an ankle infection. By the sounds of things he's well and truly crocked. No chance we can pull the plug on AC Milan's Aquilani loan deal?

There were a few rumours going around Liverpool in the first week or so of this injury that said straight away that he would not make it back within the three game timeframe the club first came out with.

One or two medical conditions were mentioned at that time, and I posted them in the old superthread at that time, which tie in perfectly with the infection in his ankle.

It would appear that the rumours back then were spot on, and I have my doubts if we will ever see Gerrard have an injury free season again or at least a season where he is available for 75% or so of our games. For me it is just another reason, on top of Lucas being out, for the club to look for a genuine quality midfielder in January and preferably one that has the ability to excel in defensive terms as well as having good CM qualities in the traditional sense of the CM role.

No chance of recalling Aquilani either. He was interviewed recently and spoke of the game clause that is tied into this loan deal. Basically he is Milan's for the entire season, and if he hits the pre agreed amount of games (25 games in all comps) for Milan then Milan can buy the player for a fairly lowish pre agreed figure regardless of whether Liverpool wanted the player back or not.

Aquilani's agent also confirmed this on Eurosport a few weeks back. Given that Aquilani is on 16 games played atm, I have no doubt he will hit that 25 game target and make it to staying fully fit for the entore season for each of the two seasons we sent him out on loan.

He would have been a bloody handy option right now though as it would give us numbers and a player that whilst not adding to the team in defensive terms would certainly, imho at least, link up very well with the likes of Suarez etc.

Just that Carragher and Keane both admitted to setting out to 'do' fellow professionals and expressed their pleasure from achieving it, in their books.

The only reason why it's still being discussed is because Mr Alan and rarnes refuse to accept the clear comparisons to the situations and in Mr Alan's case, tried to justify what Carragher did.

There's a comparison alright but breaking someones leg and getting stuck in to another player are worlds apart.

If i was a 21 year old player and some clown of a "teammate" was taking the piss out of me on the sidelines you can be sure "i'd let him know i was there" next time i was playing against him. It's about not being pushed around and it's what made Carra a great player.

Calling it "disgusting" and "despicable" is stupid and reeks of contrived moral outrage. You can be sure most players out there have made sure to get stuck into another player at one stage of their careers.

They both used the same wording "do him".
If Carraghers tackle had broke Songs leg and Keanes tackle didn't would you be taking the same stance???
Actually, you probably would because Carragher plays for Liverpool, the club that can do no wrong......

But he didn't break Songs leg and i'm sure he wasn't intending on breaking his leg either.

As for your little tangent your going off on, well it's pathetic.

He intended on hurting him though and all because Song was laughing at him because he thought he wasn't good enough to play for England.

Its directly comparable to what Keane said in his book.

They both made idiotic statements about deliberately hurtng fellow pros. I don't see why its so hard to lump them together as pretty pathetic things to do. they both behaved like twats and both made it worse by putting it in their crappy autobiographies.

I reckon certain sections of fans on both sides are guilty of defending theses two characters.
Quite frankly anyone defending either of these tackles is pathetic and disgusting in equal measure.

They were both wrong and behaved like thugs.

    Could have easily mistimed it.
And the only thing that's pathetic is the blinkered bias that runs through a huge section of Liverpool fans on here.

Failure to acknowledge cheating, failure to accept that there is a possibility that one of their players said something a bit racist and making excuses for thuggish behaviour by trying to make out like it was the right and only thing to do.
It's the same with any controversy, just ignore it,deny it or try to justify it.

There's plenty of rational and reasonable Liverpool fans, but this is the way ye come across because of the rest.

Exactly, I don't see how people can't just bring themselves to admit a player from the club they support is anything othr than perfect.

Agree with all of this. Some of the blinkeredness on here is mind boggling.

You're right of course maybe yourself and your pals can help us see the error of our ways and become better football fans and perhaps... better people.

Setting out to 'do' an opponent in a 50/50 tackle is not thuggish.

Setting out to get revenge on a player by putting in an intentionally career threatening injury with no regard for the ball is thuggish.

    It's not difficult.

The new breed of Utd fan on this forum are a serious downgrade on some of the previous greats (I miss Boggles).

The fact that Carraghers book was only brought up on this thread cause I was slating him about some of the things he said in it seems totally to have gone over the head of some of the Einstein's above.

Opposing fans getting so upset about it is pretty pathetic as well.

There's loyalty then there's towing the party line even when it makes you look stupid.

Because trying to hurt a teammate in training shows "adequate regard for the ball" (whatever that is).:pac:

    Unrayal. Never change Al.

No matter what way you try and qualify it.

Setting out to "do" someone is thuggish full stop.

I'm a liverpool fan by the way

Last time I checked it was a public forum and the topic being discussed is Jamie Carragher, why would we be talking about him in the United thread.

So when Agger set out to 'do' Torres in our first game against them after his move.....that was thuggish? Yea ok.

There is not a defender in the world who hasn't done what Carragher did. I think the fella is a dope, I'd have no qualms admitting if I thought was he said was out of order. This whole conversation came about by me saying what stupid he'd come out with in his book.

Agger didn't set out to do Torres in all fairness.

In fairness its there in your first comment "Setting out to do someone isn't thuggish"

It most certainly is no matter what result.

Leave um be. They like to talk about us more than they do their own team for some reason. Check out some of their stats for postings. A lot of them actually post here a lot more than their own teams thread. :D seriously check it out i did'nt believe it until someone pointed it out to me.

Blind faith isn't always repaid. Its not bad support to take a realistic and balanced stance on matters pertaining to your club. If every fan was an extremist there'd be anarchy.

The stats are skewed because you spread your posts over so many different accounts.

I can say what Keane did was disgraceful,I can say Nani is an embarrassment(not so much anymore)with his play-acting and rolling around and still support my team and the players mentioned,I'm not going to just deny it.

There is supporting and there's downright ignorance to anything that might tarnish the precious reputation.
