No Mafi? I find that odd. The rest of the starting XV from the HC games are there. Wonder does he have an injury?

I cant see POC and ROG named in a squad and not making the team, the question will McGahan start them and take them off in the 2nd half of give some youth a chance and bring on the big guns if needed to get a win.

Ospreys beat us in TP so a win is almost a must otherwise we could end up getting only 2 points from the 2 games and they getting 8 or even 9

Rested I presume, Munster won't need all their front-liners to get a win this weekend with Ospreys missing their Wales contingent.

They were missing their internationals when they demolished Leinster in the first round of the RPD12 games. When Ospreys put their mind to it they can be a very formidiable team to beat, especially when they're at home.

    Munster rugby tweeted:
    French referee Romain Poite to ref Scarlets v Munster on Sat.10th;

English ref Dave Pearson to ref Munster v Scarlets on Sun. 18th.

Poite will suit Munster. The reason they suffered under his officialdom was their scrum. They now have a scrum and certainly have a better one than Llanelli. Poite rewards scrums that are on top regardless of infringements or illegal scrummaging. Munster get their scrum moving forward, they'll get penalties and ROG will slot them. Their chances in the away fixture just got a solid boost.

Incidentally, Northampton are being refereed by George Clancy and John Lacey in their matches. Both Limerick natives! :pac:

Tom Gleeson and Quinny are down to play for the Northern Hemisphere v the Southern Hemisphere at 4.30 on Saturday in twickenham in the Help 4 Heroes Challenge. Tom Gleeson is also down to play at 13.

What's with Adam Thompson playing 8 so much nowadays?

Interesting pic of Justin Marshall too, retirement hasn't been kind!

I agree Munsters scrum has always come under (deserved) scutiny from Poite. However, I always get the impression that Poite is irritated by POC's style of captaincy, hopefully we can get on top early because as you said, Poite favours to go-forward team.

Strange one for Tom gleeson, would love if he could get picked up somewhere else, he's really not coming through with Munster.

at least he has got a game, hes only had 11 starts and 6 sub appearances in 4 seasons with munster. Surely he would be better off playing div 1 rugby in england etc than playing munster A and AIL here in ireland

According to the Echo in Cork, Stringer is heading to Saracens on loan for a few months.

stringer is now 4th choice so its not that OTT
fair play to him if true, he'll prob get good amount of gametime in premiership if he does go

I think the OTT comment was in reference to the statue. And I would have to agree with that sentiment. Two great players undoubtedly but a statue?

Depends on whether or not TOL has done enough in Kidneys eyes to warrant a recall.. Highly unlikely, but by no means impossible...

We should be I think, we've got Duncan Williams and there's a few young guys knocking around too.

Cathal Sheridan is still in the academy (his move to Edinburgh fell through), he made an ML appearance last season I think.

Yeah, there's also Gerry Hurley with Con.

Apparently a 3 month deal, he will be coming back in the middle of the 6 nations.

Saracens have a few injured 9s at the moment DeKnock and Wigglesworth are both out, Wigglesworth for the season and DeKnock for 3 months.

If this is Stringer's last season will this have any implication on his tax status?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

He'll be at least 2nd choice at Sarries and will get some HEC rugby. Good move for him.

I shouldn't think it will have tax implications given that it's not a permanent move.

Player I really rate, far better than Duncan Williams.

Turned down a contract from Munster in the summer though.

Provided he finishes his career in Ireland it will have no implications on his tax situation..

The current first choice was playing in National Division 1 (the league below the championship) before the start of this season I think Stringer will be ahead of him.
