jesus, i dont like to over react about players and like to give them a chance but Carroll was absolutely awful and for such a big strong lad, he went down too easy on more than one occasion, he aint no suarez at making the most out of a tackle. Starting to look a bit too much like Robbie Keane for my liking, cant start him anymore unless suarez is out and even then, kuyt should start up top.

he needs to re-watch his EPL goals, newcastle and liverpool. wheres the striker that destroyed us in St.James Park? he is in there somewhere....

Ya think? Thought he looked okay last night tbh.

£15m offer for Torres in Jan please Mr Henry.

Striking options of Suarez,Carroll,Torres,Bellamy & Kuyt would be sexual.

What a ball from Bellamy though, Jan Molby would have been proud of that one.

It needs to be said again, what a signing Bellamy was. He shows up everytime he's asked.Love seeing him back in the red shirt, he's been fantastic since his return.

Hendersons ball to Bellamy for the 2nd goal was just as sexual.

That whole move was wánk material infact

Didn't see our routine win at Stamford Bridge last night - there seems to be very mixed reports on Carrol's performance.....everything from muscular and menacing to hopelessly short of confidence

Seems like years since we were in a League Cup semi. Is is still a 2 leg tie?

I'd throw caution to the wind considering the level of our last three performances and go 4-4-2 with Maxi and Bellers on the wings, Hendo and Adam in the middle and Kuyt up-front with Suarez.

Everyone in there is interchangable to a degree, with the exception of Adam, and the Fulham defenders would not be able to get comfortbale with their marker with players swapping position every 15 minutes or so.

That team would wreak havoc I reckon.

I'd go for 3 in the middle with Bellamy, Maxi and Suarez up top against Fulham. I'll be very confident of a win if we lineup like that. 442 with Henderson and Adam in the middle would leave us a bit vulnerable IMO

Not a two leg tie - we're in the semi finals. I thought Carroll was far from menacing. I can barely remember him being in their box apart from the odd corner or free kick.

Semi finals have always been 2 legs.

Carling Cup semis are two legs afaik.

Carroll - link up play was OK. Few decent knock downs and brought players into the game well sometimes, other times less well.

Can't be faulted for effort outside of the box. Chased down aggressively and worked back just as energetically right up to the last minute. Definitely not a lazy performance. He did still look like he was hesitant in the box, suffering from confidence. Needs a couple of goals to get going I suspect but am not sure he'll get them.

He was confident enough i suppose to take the penalty, if the keeper misses it then he's a hero and get's tabloid praise !

He did look like he understood his role in the team a little better. I'm going to be optimistic and say that he is getting there....

    It's a 2 legged semi alright.

I think it's a bit outdated myself tbh.

    Steve Clarke wants in.

The complaining about Carroll's performance is well out of order in my opinion. He won a lot of difficult ball that was played up to him and played some very nice passes while under a lot of pressure, the way we played last night that was his job.

He was also in the box plenty but was too isolated or poor ball was played into him, I really think some people want him to fail and will tear apart his performance and look for anything they can to use against him.

    Carroll was fine.

and, he looked like he cared, which is halfway to him making something of this move.

he didn't shirk the penalty...he wanted it in fact, as bad as it was.

yes, yes, yes...as we've heard a million times before, he's not a £35m striker. we know. but ho hum, it's spent, and i do believe he's an asset.

he needs a run of games badly.

he was unlucky not to get the winner Sunday, and did all he could yesterday in terms of effort, though some of his decision making in terms of staying further forward at time could've been better.

but he worked his ass off, right until the final second.

Andy is going to be fine IMO.

Draw for semi final tonight after manu v palace game on Skysports....not really bothered who we get but for some reason I would like the 1st leg at home!

Great performance & win last from all players, hoping Lucas only has strain with his knee and misses no more than a few weeks....

Anyone else listen to the most recent episode of the Game podcast from the Times?

They were full of praise for Liverpool, with Lucas and Daglish getting particular praise. Very encouraging to hear.

As posted y'day - I reckon some team is in for a proper tonking from us in the not too distant future

Have liverpool turned the consistency corner, Do we now know what we are going to get when they take field,
    Solid defense
    Dominating Midfield
    Create lots of chance
    Take very few
    Miss penalties
    Hit the post a lot

I'll tell you in three games' time.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Maxi Rodriguez goals tally is no fluke .his positional play is so underrated and he nearly always takes a CB out of a game with his movement .
He may not be the prettiest player to watch but he really is as unsung hero when he plays .

Putting individual performances aside the best thing about the past three games has been the the way we played as a unit .
Offensively we are a right handful , and in defence I am no longer getting a mini cardiac when the ball enters the box .

If we are starting to see the foundations of the Kenny&Clarke era then the future looks very bright .

Some nice intelligent player purchases in the next couple of windows , and blood a few of the exceptional potential we have in reserve and i feel we will be very strong force in the medium term .

    Long may it last .

You forgot Pepe playing like a sweeper and players falling over.:pac:

Things are looking good, and there has been no Jekyll and Hyde performances in the 1st and 2nd half over the last few games.

Like them myself, adds a bit of drama and great for teams like Cardiff.

Carroll is a trier, hope the miss doesn't effect him too much, he had the balls to take it which was good.

Mad Men's Don Draper : What you call love was invented by guys like me, to sell nylons.
