Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ridge racer is reported full price , thats just bollox low life company greed
On the bright side, it will carry a reduced ¥3980 (around £33) price tag, knocked down further to ¥2980 (around £25) for all digital purchases before 31st March. The majority of boxed Vita titles will sell for ¥4980 (around £41) in Japan.

Where do you see full price?

    http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/28/psone-classics-and-other-game-archives-wont-work-on-vita-at-lau/
There's no more confusion about whether or not the PS Vita will run PSOne Classics and other "Game Archives" games (that's the umbrella term used in Japan for Sony's retro games -- PSOne and PC Engine/Turbografx-16, along with, presumably, PS2) at launch. Unfortunately, the answer to that lingering question is a firm, and bewildering, no.

The Japanese Vita FAQ, which initially noted that the Vita will play all downloadable PSP games except for Archives releases, cemented that in an answer to the direct question of whether or not the device will support old downloaded games. According to the FAQ, Game Archives games will not be compatible with the device at launch. "Plans for future measures will be announced shortly," the (Google-translated) FAQ notes.

There's no reason to suspect that there's a technical issue with running old PlayStation, PC Engine, and PS2 games on the powerful Vita. It's more likely that Sony's figuring out how to square the existing PlayStation Store for consoles with the PlayStation Suite version of the store, which offers a different and smaller selection of PSOne games. That hasn't been a problem so far ... because there hasn't been a device that could theoretically use both stores yet.

    I mean, honestly... /shakes head

Won't take long for that to be fixed.

By who, hackers or Sony? They really do never learn - I just see these things as incentive for those that would, to exploit the system.

Cracking looking console, I just hope Sony utilize it to its potential unlike the psp.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,985 ✭✭✭animaX

Hackers then sony! (if the psp is anything to go by)

I'll never get over how they disabled video output over composite connection even though it was proven to be fully possible

so you're going to save the €5.00 extra your vita is going to cost you by travelling to another country to buy it? logic fail

Anyone have any news on the Vita Launch in Ireland? Any official dates, bundle options, multiplayer features? I heard that it's in Mid-February.

According to an e-mail I got today, GAME, HMV, Amazon, GameStation, Argos and Blockbuster are doing it - both the Wifi and 3G versions.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,541 ✭✭✭WarZoneBrother

Better get it pre-ordered so... Now just to save up the funds...

Still no word on EU/US memory card prices? Not a chance i'd consider pre-ordering until details are known.

Was reading that if you buy the largest card the the high discounts for psn versions of games will mean that after 8 games it's paid for itself, but it's a big initial cost along with the vita.

What you mean by the high discounts for psn versions of games?... Is the full games going to be cheaper to buy in the PS Store than in game shops?

Yes, according to Sony. I was reading that the games could be discounted almost 40%, meaning about eight games will cover the cost of a 32GB memory card with their savings.

That's in addition to the discount on PSN stuff for the vita that will be out for the first few months of release.

Looking by Japanese prices there are some good discounts over the albeit inflated Japanese price for games.

It's a lot of money on day 1 and i'm not sure how long it take for me to buy enough games to start making a saving but i probably do it to go along with any PLUS stuff that may be included.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,541 ✭✭✭WarZoneBrother

Great move by Sony, but I will admit I do prefer the ole cases etc... Might only buy games I am definately going to keep in the store..

Been reconfirmed that the Vita will only allow you to register one account.

    Via Joystiq.

How is the 3G version going to work? Is it free or will you have to sign a contract/pay as you go?

I'd be happy enough with the normal wi-fi to just play online at home but if the 3G is free (like the kindle) then it'd be worth the extra dosh.

Vodafone are the Irish partner. You'll have to pay per month for it, not sure how much though.

Thanks. Wi-fi only it is so.

If you have a decent enough smartphone, you can turn it into a portable Wi-Fi hotspot to use with your Vita. That's my plan anyway.

You need to reset it to change, it was said that accounts were tired to cards but now it's both.

What I want to know is if I take out the EU account card, reset the vita which would only lose the account and wifi setting can I then insert a card with my US stuff and set up vita for that account or will each card be set for once instance of the account on the vita.

    And visas versa.

Possible stupid question: Where is the memory card slot? Or is the game slot also where the card goes?

I think you'd have to be nuts to buy a Vita in EU/UK. When my aunt is going to the US in Spring I'll get the Vita (wifi only), 16GB memory card, Uncharted and Little Deviants all for only €283 (dollars converted). Much more better value than getting the Vita on its own for €250 here! Anyone else going to buy in the US?

Actually, I might go for the 32GB for an extra €30 :D

I take it your not factoring in tax?

It's stupid how they don't include tax.

Most of the time Irish shops take the hit for higher vat when prices get announced like this (no rrp anymore, and excluding the €630 for the PS3).

I may get it over there but it depends on the price at the time and the fact i'll have little comeback on it if anything goes wrong.

Also any US games may cause DLC problems with you account.

Any reason for that? I presume the 32GB will work on an EU Vita, it's just their not going to market them here right?

No reason given, they'll work if imported.

Production issues as with many other parts from the bad year that some of these countries have had.

Or perhaps they could not make a good price point for it to sell.

i think i'll import the card anyway, probably not the console or games>

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,999 ✭✭✭Nerdkiller1991

Might as well just buy a 4GB card until SCEE actually get their act together and release the 32GB card in Europe. They're just a total joke at this point.

Yes, I am. I won't have to pay any import duties either since its going by plane not by post.

What problem would there be if something goes wrong? The worst thing that could happen is that you would have to return the system to the US to be replaced/repaired instead of Dublin/UK (wherever it is). I think that's the case with warranty anyway if you import. I'd probably get Console Repairs to reapir it anyway if out of warranty because Sony are simply too scabby.

I have no intention in buying DLC for Little Deviants or Uncharted - I'll be broke after all!:p I doubt there will be any DLC for them anyway... (It's only a small amount of games that are DLC region-locked).

Huge savings though, 2 games and memory card for €33!

    !

You'll only get a year out of the warranty and then have to probably pay a decent percentage of the consoles price again for repairs after that.

Buy it in Ireland and you have a good chance of getting a replacement from the shop, and that will be longer than a year.

I do.:) There is no importing costs if you transport the good by yourself (or in my case, my Aunt). The same goes for cigs and alcohol when people go to Spain etc. And since all the immigration that happened in the past, people must have some relations out in the US right? (not all people but quite a lot I'd say) You could also get someone to re-package the item so it's like a gift which would avoid customs when posting (although you would have to pay for P+P then).

    (Sorry, should have multi-quoted)

I get your point there but since I'm making big savings on the item I'll take the risk on not having it replaced for free. The Vita alone is €190 when converted from dollars. I've also had past problems in relation to Repair and Replacement laws and I might end up in a situation where I have to go to the Small Claims, which I am not going to do. (Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act)
