    Hi,

    I've loaded up postgresql on a vm for a college project, I've logged in and can find my database (.sql file).
    however when i try to enter the ¦ character, it won't enter into the cmd line.

    What am I doing wrong?:confused:

    | is not the same as ¦ Are you sure you are entering the right character ?

    It is used to 'pipe' the output of one command into another ...

    EDIT:
    The pipe is the .... | .... which is printed by the key with .... ¦ ... on it .... at least on this keyboard.

    Even more confusion, which I appear to have added to ......

    ¦ .... this character is printed when I use the key to the left of the '1' key with Alt Gr ....... but it has engraved on the key the ... | ... symbol.

    | ..... this character is printed when I use the key to the left of the 'Z' with Shift, and that key has the ... ¦ ... symbol on it.

    So on this keyboard I use the key with the ... ¦ ... symbol, to get the ... | ... printed ...... and this is the pipe.

    So apologies for the misinformation I posted earlier.
