Claiming back registration fees?

My sister and I are both in 3rd level college and paying our own registration fees. I heard a few months back that there was a new system in for paying fees for more than one siblings where we both pay the registration fee of €2,000 each and then we can claim back €400 on the second siblings fees.

Does anyone know how to do this????

I have tried to ask around but EVERY SINGLE other family I know that have more than one sibling in college get the grant and have their registration fees paid for

It needs to be claimed back through the revenue.

It says there that the relief is not available in respect of registration fees. Is that new?

you could never claim relief on reg fees only tuition fees.

That's what I thought, but Agent_99 said you can claim relief on them through the revenue. The question was specifically about registration fees, wasn't it?

I have 3 kids in 2 different colleges and I haven't been able to get reliable information on how to claim back money on their registration fees so any info would be helpful. As the poster says above you can only claim tax back on tuition fees not registration fees.

Thank you efb, I followed this link on to the revenue site and it is as clear as mud exactly how they system works (or perhaps I'm just being particularly dumb today). Best course of action I think will be to submit receipts to my local tax office and wait to see how much they refund me.
