I was in school during the boom and in college when the recession hit. I was able to get a full-time job not soon after I left college, though not in Ireland. I was living at home until the summer and never had a lot of money to spend.

I have no debts, I'm just started on my economic path. I make enough money to pay my rent and my bills, etc. I've a bit left over at the end of the month, though I've recently start working more hours so I'll be earning more in the months to come.

No..no debts for me. In fact, I'm owed money from friends whose businesses I invested in.

I think I've only ever borrowed a large sum of money once, and paid it back as quickly as I could. I save my money and then spend it, rather than spending money I don't have and then paying it back with huge interest.

I'm not 'rich', but I am doing quite well compared to many. This is somewhat due to having a good job, but mostly because I'm wise about how I use my money.

Dept free here as well. I saved instead of spent during the boom years and lived well within my means, so the current economic troubles haven't hurt me so far.

    same here

Guarantee you have a hard time with at least one person paying you back who thinks it should be written off becasue you're not in debt!

I haven't been in debt for many years. But now when I read about all those gits owing millions or billions and still living high on the hog, I realise that I went wrong a long way back.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I have no debts but I have very little income and very little cash, you could say I am on the poverty line, but nice to know I will have a roof over my head and will be able to eat from the fruit garden should times get harder than they already are

I dunno what option to choose. I have a mortgage and I have debts so do I add that all up? If so, stick me into the highest value category :)

I once read that no matter what people earn they tend to spend on average 5% (or was it 10%) more than they earn.

This is more understandable for poorer people but seems a bit crazy for wealthier ones. Status and keeping up with the joneses has a lot to do with it but the main thing is that most people aren't very strong on budgeting and money management.

Yep. No debt at all. Lifetime wise one mortgage long paid off. Other than that I've never gotten a loan. If I want something I save for it and if I can't afford it I don't buy it. Old fashioned man I is. :o:)

The most or longest i've ever been in debt has been until i clear my visa card which is usually straight after using my card. I inherited a house so never had a mortgage. I've never borrowed anything either and hope i never will need to.

Nope no debt, no mortgage, no car loan (have never had any loan, and my mother's a loan advisor!). I have a credit card but only use it for online or big purchases, I either put the money in before I spend it or pay it the next day in the Post Office. I'm terrified of the day I may have to get a car loan or something, I won't be able to relax until I've paid it off, couldn't handle a long term loan, would freak me out.

No debt thankfully. Never bought anything big and never got credit on the smalls things I've bought. Bit shocked to see almost 50% are debt free.

I owe around €450 on credit card and €600 for credit union so just over a grand in debt.

Worked my way out of almost 7000e worth of debt and i will NEVER get myself into debt again.

It's just not worth it. If i don't have the money for it then i can't have it. Simple.

I'd love to be debt free, up to my neck in negative equity.

I have +800 eu on credit card ( not dept ) . Will be buying pc next week.

    -450eu loan.

We were planing on buying house. Had mortgage approved and all. Started a hunt for a house in early summer. Few days ago we had to pull out second time from closing a deal, because sellers house had issues... All this time were saving for when we get house, so we can buy stuff for it.
Now we pulled out from buying one, as it just exhausted us. Good thing about it we got alot of savings during this year.

    I think as a taxpayer I owe ECB/IMF 50.000. I don't remember spending that.

Otherwise I am OK. I have to get a car and I can just about manage that on my savings, but it will mean a thrifty xmas and so what.
