I really hate dust inside my PC.
So when I was building a new one a few months back I went for a case with proper dust filters on the intake fans that you can clean when required.
    So far its worked perfectly.

But that thing would be handy for cleaning vintage consoles and computers as long as you can lower the power down on it.

    .

There is no power control on it, but it's not like it's going to blow capacitors and resistors off the board!

The skinnier attachment does lose some of the power though.

Plenty of people have bought it on the overclocks uk and .net forums, and all the feedback has been positive.

What concerns would you have with vintage consoles?

I'm the kind of person who goes at a vintage console with some cotton wool buds and a lot of time when I have to clean them.

So a power hose worries me a bit.

Maybe not for a NES but for rarer items I like to take it easy, romance them a bit and take it slow :D

I made a mini clean room when I had to clean my Apple I a few years back :pac:

Just got a second pro sound modded Gameboy DMG 01 for dirt cheap -

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/120817307555?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Apparantly it has a few dead pixels, but doesn't affect LSDJ. No backlight either. But for 15 pounds you can't really complain!

    Power hose! lol!

Ah it's a far more specialized device than that, Its a vacuum blower.
Definitely the best alternative I've seen using to cans of compressed air.

I'd actually be more worried about using it on newer electronics, rather than vintage stuff!
As you know, the components in vintage gear tend to be bigger and more robust, and have bigger leads and thus bigger solder joints.

Back in the days when stuff was made to last! :)

Sounds like quite a project! How did you go about that?

Picked up a few bits and pieces on a charity shop trawl today, not all retro related, but y'know... Also, camera still on the blink so no pictures, but i have entered several promising competitions, so fingers crossed!

    GC Luigi's Mansion (mint, complete)
GC Super Mario Sunshine (mint, complete)
PS1 PaRappa The Rapper (with poster)
PS1 The World Is Not Enough (missing book)
Xbox Need For Speed Underground (mint)
DVD Rush In Rio (2xDVD + 2xCD special edition)
    DVD Chasing The Lions
DVD Lost Season 2 (doubt it has ever even been watched from the disc condition, second best season of it too!)

    Total spend: €20!

I picked this game up today in Akiba for around 1500 yen/15 euros.
The shop itself is a "internet culture" shop which thousands of people miss because its a well hidden basement shop and the entrance is beside a kebab stand.

Next time someone from the forum comes to Tokyo, send me a PM and I'll guide to it!

The packaging is really nice, and the CD is beast! You can see my fingers behind the disc!

I have the same edition as you. RefRain Prism Memories is one of my favourite doujin shooting games. That and Crimzon Clover which is just brilliant too.

Great purchase and thanks for the tip on the shop, I'll certainly check it out next year. :)

Ordered a copy from amazon for £10, with postage and all it comes to €18, not bad but not great, but just wanna play it before LM2 comes out. So maybe have a check there?

Got my copy of SSX Tricky for the gamecube in CEX today, knew they had it behind the counter the other day, the guy just wouldnt look for me. Only €2.50 \o/

Can get it for that price on ebay. I just can't bring myself to pay that much for one of the GC's best selling games and I can get two games ~I want for that price.

Gamecubes, the one thing I almost never see at the markets at all.
Until, that is, I picked up a US console with the GB Player attached with a few games and got it all for a song!

Here, Retr0, what region GC have you got?
I have a jap copy of Luigi here that you can have if you like, otherwise I'll be keeping it.

I've actually had loads of luck with gamecubes! Picked up a boxed one for €15 with a new memory card, Picked up a jap one for €15 with mario kart and then got another one which I sold on for €30 for a fiver at a car boot! So all in all 3 Gamecubes cost me a fiver :D

Anyone recommend to me a good DVD storage box or fabic box to hold all my gamecube and xbox360 games and ds/3ds games?

Getting beyond a joke now, running out of space, and is a pain to move them all when moving house so often. Anyone know of a cheap alternative?

Also, just got Luigis Mansion in the post this morning, Retr0, when I get around to finishing it, your more than welcome to a lend of it if you like?

Kool, thanks for that, had a look on the ikea site, only cardboard boxes coming up though. Will venture out and have a look.

@Retr0: why do people bid so much on ebay instead of waiting till the last hour or minutes of the auction. Wrecks my head, its like people dont understand how ebay works anymore

Sellers arn't immune to bidding on their own items either to generate interest in them. Ebay can be a nightmare for that. I really love though when they win their own auctions & you get the obligatory "winner didn't respond, are you still interested?" emails

Of course they do, they do it to drive up prices with alt accounts also. Not all of them of course, but it happens.

Easy way to resolve that. Only bid what you want to pay. :)
