€38 for freesat dish, quad LNB - any good?

I'm looking for a dish to pick up Freesat, spotted this one:

There's no brand name on the dish (though the site says that it's "the most commonly used satellite dish in Ireland").

Is this a decent quality dish? Any reason why I shouldn't get it?

Here's one from eBay for €25 inc delivery... If supporting Irish businesses is important to you then go with the one you found...

thats very cheap! wonder how he ships that to Ireland for £4!! they usually charge a lot for large items!

Yeah couldn't believe myself, it's crazy, just shows you he must still be making a profit off it though...

The only dishes WORSE than a Sky dish are the camping dishes etc. They are built down to a price and gain is too poor in West, North West and Southwest in rain.

I'd never recommend them. A perforated dish is for cheapness. They also rot much more than a decent solid dish.

maybe if you live in the middle of nowhere, but in dublin they work perfectly, and if they didn't I doubt sky would use them.

I have seen places (pubs) out west that are so used to crappy RTE analogue that they think it normal for the satellite to fade out when it rains.

Anyway, Sky dishes are not that bad. However, personally I'd buy a more rustproof alternative, given the choice. Who in their right mind wants to have to replace a dish every 5-10 years.

I just can't see how watty calls them terrible, sky wouldn't use them if they were terrible, yes thay are cheap, 30 quid with a quad lnb you could replace it twice a year for that price.

If you want a proper alternative you should get a 60cm solid aluminium dish with aluminium wall mount.

Sky don't own them.
The subscriber owns it. Sky thus will chose the cheapest. I can assure you that most professional non-Sky installers will use higher quality than a Sky dish.

Some places need 70cm.

A very few places need 80cm

If you ever want multiple satellites then 80cm to 110cm depending on location and satellites.

Thanks for the input guys, I'm going with the perforated dish + Hammerite.

We'll see how long it lasts.

I used hammerite on a sky dish once, ended up a complete mess, some of the holes fill with it and some dont , it looked awful. Also hammerite isnt cheap if you need to buy a new tin just for painting the dish. I also used aerosol spray cans on a dish, a much better job but not cheap either.

I don't understand it either - hence my 'not that bad'.
