    Any tips

How long are you playing? If you're new to the game you're probably unfamiliar with it. Play a private match, get used to the maps, guns etc.

If you're playing a while, slow your game downm running around like a headless chicken makes you an easy target.

Stack your killstreaks low, don't aim too ambitious. Find a nice gun and stick to it. Use sleight of hand/quickdraw to get a faster edge on your opponents (might help if you've rubbish net)

    Any tips

Play with a group of people... Try to notice where the bottlenecks and high traffic areas are in maps and stay just outside them to pick people off... Think about what you're doing and where you doing it... Try to learn spawn points are when your team are around one side of the map... Watch videos on youtube of tips and tricks...

You've to be a little more forthcoming with information. They're different games at times.

For MW2, use sleight of hand, stopping power, steady aim and a strong assault rifle like the SCAR or TAR-21. Finding what suits you is key.

    At the moment on MW3
I use UMP45 Red dot sight

Try sticking a silencer on it to keep yourself from showing up and run assassin for a while. If you can stay off the radar you'll find it easier to get into the game

I use two attachments , red dot and silencer

The best advice I can give is move around alot. This will help with your reaction time. Learn where the enemies spawn aswell which will be hard since in mw3 they are so random

what gametype are you playing

I presume you mean game mode. I kill confirmed or domination

Look at YouTube with Tallon, Thomasheen and the rest of the lads that post their vids it's invaluable completely, I have been playing since may this yr after a break of bout 6 yrs blops, mw2 and now mw3 and I'm not out of the top half of the score board too many times, don't get too obsessed with K/D too much, you learn off people

This. Alot of "really good" players will only play games where they have great ping speeds.

Im pretty meh at it, 0.65 k/d on blops and probably worse in mw2. I find blops easier to do good in, getting mw3 for christmas and will no doubt be meh at it but i enjoy all untill theres 2 harriers, a pavelow and god knows what else in the air.

A silencer is probably the best bet, keeps ya off the radar and reduces kick. Range is affected but for blops throw on the acog aswell and really helps with accuracy for range. 3 round burts weapons are handy aswell. Ghost is good aswell. Lay off the spring button aswell..
As long as your enjoying it is the main thing..

on your own or with a few lads?
what kinda of a connection have you?
and most importantly.......have you unlocked assassin yet?

Leeg17 is pretty bad too, thats why he traded the game in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,034 ✭✭✭✭Nalz

I'm average too and play it a lot.... usually get 17-20 kills per game but I can be extremely positive one game then extremely negative the next. I think my K/D 1.05 or so, I don't really check it.

I'm using that three burst assault rifle with a silencer (somethin 95 can't think of the name) with slight of hand p, quickdraw p and marksman. 4-5-7 Assault Killstreaks.

I'm doing way better with this than I had been (was using ACR which is a good weapon but only in the hands of a good player :) )

I suggest to learn the maps as quick as you can and hug the sides of the maps. Watch your team mates where they are and use them as a guide for where the opponents are.

Learn the timing when cooking frag grenades.

Always flashbang if you're attempting to enter a room thats nowhere near your teammates and no enemy is either side of it.

Play with mates if you can.

Stick to kill confirmed, team deathmatch or Headquarters. Other gamemodes can be mayhem and the spawning is a bit messy in MW3 so I'm not a fan of F4All this time around.

    Above all have fun!

Like everyone else said use Assasin and a silenced gun

Dont always rush to pick up dog tags as soon as you see one

In domination try not to cap flags on your own too much and be aware of the spawn system (or lack of it in MW3)

Yeah you'll look up or find something in your path and think "What the fcuk is that?" and BOOM. There's a ridiculous amount of killstreaks in the game:D

@OP Playing with better players will improve your game overall but not yer kdr in the short term. I'd always use a silencer aside from the not showing up I find the reduced kick helps accuracy even at range. Supressors reduce range but I'm more effective at distance with a silencer than without one.
You need to find a set up that suits you whether it's as a rusher, camper, noob tuber(I'm going to hell for suggesting this), sniper or whatever.

Watch your killcams, it's suprising what you learn from them.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 35,946 Mod ✭✭✭✭dr.bollocko

    I'm crap too.
As said, watching killcams helps. Learning the maps helps. Rewatching games where somebody has kicked ass helps. Assassin and a good gun with rapid fire helps.

The one thing that really helped me to improve was to stop worrying about it and learn to enjoy mediocrity mixed with occasional glory.

    Run support killstreaks.

Dont run around the map like a headless chicken.

If someone kills you dont try to get revenge, your only walking into another death.

    Know the maps well.

I found having a low sensitivity (around 3) helped and I also switched off vibration.

Main thing dont play on your own, random people rarely play the objective ... add a few of us from here

Try switching to FFA if your on your own and if you have dead silence unlocked stick it on , take your time and use (if you have) your headset to locate the enemy .

Use low killstreaks and when you get more confident switch to the specialist killstreak .

    With regards to the ping..

How does having a low ping affect your game?

I think this is affecting my game TBH.

What would be a good ping to have?

Nope, I'm also pretty crap. I rarely have more kills than deaths, usually about twice as many deaths as kills.

What's the easiest way to get into games with some people on here? Was playing domination last night and it was just loads of people camping while our team got slaughtered in points. Just add people from the tag sharing thread?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 645 ✭✭✭Liam90

Use a silencer and assasin, stay away from the middle of the maps, pay attention to your radar and watch out for where your teammates die (them scull things apare) and watch these guys videos, they will help you out alot

also play survival mode(solo) as they are the maps and you can get used to them without getting slaughtered online.
