    Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone has any experience developing for WinCE6.0 using C#?

I have visual studio 2008 standard that i use for most of my development. But reading up on the internet it looks like i need visual studio 2005.

Is WinCE development even still supported in newer versions of VS? or is is tied in with Windows Mobile etc?

    Thanks,
    D

    Hi,

It's been a year since my last WinCE dev experience, so I can't remember the finer points. From what I remember, if you are developing a managed app, you can use either vs2005 or vs2008, you just need to install the .net compact framework, however to write native c++ apps, I think you must use vs2005 due to the visual studio add-on that's required for the native debugger.

Support for "smart device" development with either win mobile or wince 5/6 has been removed from vs2010, it only supports the latest SDK http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/sa69he4t%28VS.100%29.aspx

You might find some help with the requirements for win mob 6.5 here:
