How long will a dealer hold a car for?

Hi, buying new car and need ur help..im waiting to sell my car and spotted a car i want..how long will a dealer hold a car for with a deposit? And how much generally do they look 4 ? Tanx in advance

Personally I would prefer to order a brand new car.
Buying one that has been sitting in the showroom for some time is more like buying a demo model.

It's down to deposit amount/car value/time really and all up to the dealer. I've put 50 quid down on a 7000 euro car and there was no issue waiting week to collect the car while sorting money or what not, but I assume it varies a lot and if someone offered the dealer 7000 cash in the meantime it could be a different story. They'd probably be hesitant to take a deposit until you sell your current car, as that could take a matter of hours or months depending on the car and the price you put on it.
