I'm looking to pick up a set of roof bars for a Seat Cordoba second hand (they're about 100 quid new).

Can anyone tell me if they're specific for every car make or can you get a generic set?

You can get universal, but you are better off getting ones designed for your car.

Thanks Oldman......even if I'm only going to use them once or twice a year?

Depends on what your planning on carrying. Remember, you will need something to hold your load at speed. Also remember to get good straps, don't use washing line....

While not a safety item like tyres or brakes, the result of them failing can be as bad.

Thanks for that......I have a roof box with straps already, just no bars yet.
