If I buy a Sky HD box on adverts am I right in saying I can just put in my existing sky+ card? If I use the the Sky+ box instead of a non + multiroom box can I record?

yeh, but u will need to ring $ly and pair card with box, no problems there..don't pay any more than 100.. my advice is go get a 1TB box of sly, since ur not a hd subscriber, u will get it cheap enough..

You'll need to pay for a Sky HD (€15/month) subscription before you'll be able to view HD channels.

You will get bbc hd, bbc1hd and itvhd without paying for hd subscription. I bought my HD box on advert.ie for about €55. Called sky and they paired the card in a few minutes.

No interest in Sky HD but the box produces a better picture regardless and as talkabout said you get a couple of free HD channels.

If you get a box off the shelf, so to speak and bung in your card, you'll get all the lower tier packs with no hassle.

However, if you have sports/movies, or want the recording/pause features, then YES, you will have to ring sky and ask them to pair your card with the new HD box. Fairly simple and painless process, TBH.

Unless you are unfortunate enough to get through to someone who hasn't a clue about what they are doing. A usually simple process turned into a 23 minute marathon for me once upon a time. Sky refunded the cost of the call.

With multiroom do you need to pay extra for Plus on the 2nd box? ie when the existing + box goes in the other room replacing the non plus box

Nope, the recording/live pause functionality is free, right across the board............. as long as you are an active sky subscriber.
