ROS sign-in no longer works

    Please see the attached files.
I get this error before loading the ROS site. I click "No", then no certificates load.

I can verify that the same certificates are at C:\ROS\RosCerts, like always. I have even restored them from a backup of when they were first installed.

I don't feel comfortable submitting paper documents. I've had numerous episodes of these kind of things just "getting lost".

Anyone else experiencing this, or is it time to reinstall Windows thanks to Revenue using Java to signin?

I've been trying to log in to my ROS for the past 2 hours, without success. I get as far as the "loading certificates..." stage, and it gets stuck there.

I'm on a Mac, latest operating system version. I successfully logged on to ROS with this Mac last week. Can't remember if I used Firefox or Safari then, but neither are working today.

ROS helpdesk opens at 9am tomorrow.

I've tried all sorts of things - Java plug-in updates, my Windows 7 PC - IE, Safari, Firefox. I'll dig out my old Vista laptop and have a go.

You upgraded your browser, or your java it seems. Click yes and it should work.

Or try a different browser and see if same error pops up.

ROS has ALWAYS used java btw.

Just checked right now and I can login without problems (I use chrome on win7, and I don't see that warning). I've seen them do maintenance on sundays before tho.

    This wasn't working since Friday.

I'm installing a clean windows 7 onto VMWare. I'll try it when it's finished installing and see what happens.

srsly78, clicking "Yes" will block the website from running.

Of course clicking yes will block it. I don't get that warning at all tho, it's caused by your dodgy java install I guess.

Make sure there isn't a message at top of your browser saying "allow this applet to run" or whatever.

    Try using chrome.

edit: Oops I meant click no :)

Just got it work on my old Vista laptop (i.e. successfully logged in to ROS). Had to copy the ROS folder and all of its subfiles to C: on the laptop first.

If it is working for you, please could you reply with your java version?

Edit: Unfortunately my laptop is running Chromium OS which doesn't support java >_<

    Thanks

Not that easy. I have a dev machine with loads of different java installed. Also your browser might have it's own java etc.

Anyway, I THINK I got 1.70_01 Java runtime version.

Java 6.0.290 - the default installed
Java 7.0.0 (64-bit) - for better minecraft gaming

I removed both versions and installed Java again (6.0.290, latest version)

Still not working... I have tried Chrome, Firefox and IE >_<

Sounds like you borked your java whilst fiddling with settings for minecraft.

I had trouble during the week with this. I had to go into java and delete temporary files and then it worked.

THANK YOU! Clearing the java cache worked.

    Hi

I had this problem a few times. Apparently with Windows 7 it can happen that you need to log onto administrator in order for the machine to see the digital certificate. You just need to log on as administrator once and then it hopefully solves the problem.

    Kind Regards
