Agree about Owens performance, O'Leary didnt put a ball in straight all night.
Thing is, neither did the other three halfbacks who took the field.

Christ that was something else, exactly what Munster needed

41 phases  in stoppage time

Fantastic finish, ROG is a legend....
Doesn't mask some serious deficiencies in Munsters performance though...

Barnes was taking the complete piss there and no doubting it.

    Northampton Saints
Chambers did well to get it going again after we got pushed back to the half way line.

Apart from ROG, he was the only straight runner.

    ROG absolute steely-balled legend.

Munster got out of jail there. Saints will feel very hard done by after that maul but if you don't take your chances no one like Munster to make you go away feeling "HOW THE F**K DID THEY DO THAT!"

Anybody else think Lamb kicking from hand penalties were piss poor distance wise?

It was Dewi Morris on co commentary, not Stuart Barnes.

That is absolutely amazing (40 phases or so, what belief they showed) but ... it's hard to swallow that it's all coming from O'Leary putting twice in a row the ball abusively not straight in the scrum, knowing they were weaker in that area...

Refereeing in rugby is really getting from worse to worse... Is there anyone here to save this game ?

As much as I agree with you, isn't that a MAJOR concern ? What is the point if such a complex game as rugby sees its rules not respected all day?

Yeah, two of them didn't even cross the half-way line when he was well in from touch...

Northampton will be seriously pissed off. They would have got a try bonus win if it wasn't for Owens. The problem wasn't the scrum put in, it was the actual scrum and some of the mauls, and the knock ons at the breakdown.

    Dear Munster,

Thanks for exhausting me emotionally to the point where I can't even go out for a beer tonight.

    Love,
    A Leinster fan.

    HOLY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITBALLLS!!!

    :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

    41 PHASES!!!

THANK YOU HEINEKEN, I WILL NOW BUY A SIX PACK TO SHOW MY APPRECIATION...

Hahah, but seriously... What a day of rugby. Can any of you remember a day of rugby like this during the WC? Leinster drawing away in France on the 81st minute, Ulster beating a massive Clermont side, and Munster winning one of the best matches I've ever seen in the last minute after 41 phases and a trademark ROG DG... AND IT WAS ONLY THE FIRST WEEKEND OF THE H-CUP...

We're all Leinster fans in our house, and the whole household were jumping on tables and couches after the DG...

WELL DONE MUNSTER AND IRISH RUGBY!

What a ****ing tournament, three epic games today.

Quins v Connacht last night was no poor show either.

I have to put in a good word for my own province now that we're at the top table at last. :)

Fantastic day for the Irish clubs.
    Ulster beat the behemoths Clermont.
Leinster got 2 points in Montpellier
And Munster produce another chapter to go into their never ending folklore.
Not forgetting Connacht's proud performance last night.

    Congratulations.

POM got the MoM award. Heart is still thumping... what a game.

On the scrum halves feeding. Watch any game at the highest level today and tell me if scrum halves EVER feed it straight. They rarely do and refs rarely blow up for it

As a TH prop I dont agree on the actual scrum bit.
They got penalties when they were due but alot of the times North LH would start driving across the pitch and then losing his bind in an attempt to appear like he was driving straight and botha was the one who was sideways.
For Munsters penalty he tried the same thing but when he lost his bind he went up too fast to make it appear otherwise.

Not trying to suggest Munster werent being destroyed in the scrums just that some of what was going on after North got an advantage was trying to get the penalty as opposed to make an advantage and this in the end cost them penalties.

That game was no good for the blood pressure but great for the heart...what heart. Not sure many other teams could have pulled off 41 phases and an accurate drop goal...wow! Delighted for all the lads, O'Mahony's MOTM on his HC debut, ROG for that drop goal, the Bull for 100 caps...just everyone for a phenomenal result. Woohoo!!

Well there were times when Munster just decided to turn their side of the scrum onto the side when Northampton still pushed straight and the ref gave Munster scrum for the scrum turning. Another time POM stopped binding onto the prop to get under Mujati (I think) and push him upwards. Penalty Munster.

Hmm... let it go what ?

I had no interest in the game but just watching some great rugby from 2 European top sides. Which happened from both side. And with a great scenario with this thrilling finish.
But, the amount of non-decisons/bad decisions, the inconsistency from the referee just kills my neutral enthusiasm towards this game which could have been one of the best ever in the Heineken Cup.

Since a couple of years already, I find that rugby is not evolving in the right direction. Refereeing is getting more and more questionable and I don't even want to talk about the IRB...
I don't want and I'm sorry to spoil a little this thread, after a thrilling game after all, but I'm just worried on the evolution of this wonderful sport. That's all.

The one time he gave that it went 90 was legit.
The backrowers werent running it round it just went that way because WDP seemed to be holding but Botha was losing out. So its naturally going to go sideways.

POM not binding I didnt see so cant really comment but Clark was at the same game, not binding and trying to get in on the props binds also.
