Deer stalking during full moon(daylight hours)

    Lads had this last week off work so put in a few hours at my haunt and the week was a full moon and usually id come across a good few deer during the mornings stalk but I saw only 2 for 2 days...(no shot)

    Now does the full moon have a part to play in this as I`m thinking when the moon is full the deer can see and are feeding at night and resting up during daylight hours...???????

    What are your thoughts??

    I dont no thats a good one I ve noticed the deer been hidden the last few eves or it seem s thats what there doing anyway, but dont deer feed generally at night anyway full moon or not :confused: .

    I presume that situation where I hunt is the same as in Ireland.

    Our deer eats all night long on full moon and it is impossible to hunt or stalk them. Wait a day or two, maybe a weeks and things will be better.

    As a rule of thumb deer mainly stags become more active on moon lit nights .

    Interesting

    Away from home working at the moment, this evening called 2 mates at home, Dublin & Donegal, usual opener "any deer" both just told me the same thing, seen nothing this last week.

    Believe you are spot on, have kept a record all deer I have taken this last 10 years or so. More often than not, after the rut, successful mornings have been around the New Moon. Hence to moon calendar in many field sports/shooting magazines.

    As a rule of thumb deer mainly stags become more active on moon lit nights .

    The moon can be a factor but I would think it's more to do with the time of year. It's not uncommon for a lull in activity to occur after the rut.
