I Brought a golf in from England going back around two years ago, after seven days the airbag fault light came on the dashboard i keep away from main VW Dealers so my local mechanic during a service keeps turning it off but a few days later it comes back on. Anyone come across this ? Is it time to get ripped off at a dealers?

If your local garage keeps knocking it off then there has to be a fault logged indicating where the problem is....Ask him what fault(s) are logged post it up here....:)

Possibly a break in the wiring for a side airbag. It's a known problem on the Golf/ Octavia/ Leon etc. Nothing major cost wise.

Happened in my 06 Octavia. 2 months out of warranty, 3 years ago. They initially wanted €55 to repair it, but eventually did it under goodwill.

What your mechanic is doing is pointless as he is just clearing the code without taking any action to sort out the cause of it coming on in the first place.

On these the problem is usually just a bad connection on one of the side airbag plugs under one of the front seats. The fault will say "side airbag igniter resistance too high" or words to that effect.
