Problem with factory fitted Volvo alarm

    Car just back from service, is an 03 V70 and now when the central locking is used the alarm seems to set and then after about 10 seconds the indicators start flashing, no siren. the message board says that the alarm has been triggered.

    there was a message on the board saying alarm needs service before the service.


    Any thoughts on how this might be fixed?

    This is very common problems on Volvo's as the battery in the siren unit leaks and basically eats up the circuit board, hence the alarm needing service message. it happened to the wife's
    S80 and replacing the siren fixed the problem .

    It's a DIY job , if your handy enough with a pop-rivet gun and a drill. Pm me for the contact details of the Volvo garage i use in Wales ( much cheaper than local ) to get the whole kit
    ( alarm, rivets+ nut ).

    The Kit is not too expensive , cant remember exact price.
