He was bought to be part of a squad that is on the up and up. City needed quality in depth juggling the CL, PL and the two cup's. And that's what they got in Nasri...quality

Exactly, city got what they wanted. But I find it hard to believe that nasri did (apart from the money of course :pac:)

Also hows clichy doing there? thats a genuine question, not a shot at him.

Be surprised if Newcastle can maintain this form over the course of the season, they lack depth compared to the others and the cup season is far away from us yet. A few good buys in the transfer window could keep them there abouts, but the momentum will start to flag once they start playing 2 games a week like the rest of the CL contenders are already.

I'll give them 3 more games, whats that you say.... their next 3 games are city, utd and chelsea? Yeah we shouldnt be worrying about them for too much longer. Also i think their midfield self destructed at the weekend.

I think once we lost the CC final Nasri got disillusioned with us. Never really hit the same heights in an Arsenal shirt after that. I know they are superb players but I'm glad Cesc and Nasri are one. When players want out you'll never get 100% out of them so best to cash in while you can.
Nasri didn't try a leg once January hit. Most of our squad was utter shyte after that to be fair. I have heard we had a lot of cliques in the squad at that time. Arteta and Mertersacker have got the squad all eating at the same table now and improving the squad moral and getting everyone closer. Perhaps a big reason for our rise in form? People seem to be working harder.

I don't think Nasri is world class. World class players rise to the occasion and remain consistent.

Have you a source for this talk of arteta and per bringing the squad closer together?

Nasri is not cr** and neither is he world class.
He is pretty useful and that is what City wanted to add to their squad.
Also it removes him from their rivals grasp.
They were fools to pay so much for him given how long was left on his contract, but then again Chelsea paid 4/5 times what Torres's form makes him worth and Newcastle thought all their Christmases had come at once when Liverpool bought Carroll.

City like Real a while back have lots of very good players vying for a few spots.
Barca IMHO don't really have the strenght in depth of bought in superstars.
Most of their backup are homegrown so they know the system and are probably more easily satisfied.
Mancini has actually surprised me and done ok trying to keep people happy.
I don't think God himself could keep Tevez happy sometimes.

Somethign has changed with the outlook of the Arsenal camp and maybe it does have to do with the new seasoned pros that were brought in.
Also maybe a few of the malcontents had left which helped.

I am not allowed discuss …

I've also been impressed with Mancini myself, especially how he handled the Tevez situation.

However they are still in a real honeymoon period this season and will hit a bump at some point as all teams do. Also as the season gets to the business end the players will all want to play in the big games. How he manages that will be crucial.

In other news, stuff thats bothering me at the moment include Tottenham. They won't drop ppoints.

Their fluke machine is bound to pack in before long. Just how they managed to come away from Fulham with 3 points beggars belief. They were also extremely lucky to beat us (hand of God) and thumped a Liverpool team that didn't like the idea of having double digits worth of players on the pitch.
Although, like us their next few fixtures are against 'lesser teams' so I wouldn't expect to see many points dropped for a while yet.

We've won 4 on the bounce now to move from 15th to 7th. Great stuff altogether. Scary looking at Man City though, the best we've ever managed after 11 games is 27 and they're 4 clear of that right now!

Even Wenger came out this week with praise for Arteta.
He is easily overlooked in this squad, as he does a quiet but important job.
He has been as good as Fabregas for me, in a different way.

yeah i think he's been solid and hardworking, exactly what needed to be added to the team. Hoping he can get back to the level he was at everton a couple of years ago.

Totally agree, Arteta has been different gravy since he's signed for us, very under rated player.

My mate from work whose a huge Everton fan has been amazed by Arteta's work rate and defensive capabilities. At Everton he was relied on almost soley in a creative/attacking role.

He's doing the Denilson role except he's doing it well. Not sure where he'll fit in once Jack comes back though; maybe Jack will move into the front 3 again? Nice dilemma to have anyway.

Still wish we had gotten Xabi for that role a few seasons back mind :(

Wow this makes interesting reading alright. After our horror show at the start of the season we have recovered excellently. Cant believe we are only 1 point worse off at this time than last season. What makes it even more interesting is that in the double winning season of 01-02 we have exactly the same amount of points. Obviously I dont see us winning the title but is amazing to how seasons differ from each other on points required to win it.

it's around the same number of points in all the seasons we've finished fourth though

I really hope the international break doesn't do any damage to the team, injuries aside we are on such a roll and really need to keep on going, this break may put a spanner in the works. Hope Im wrong obviously. The break will do arteta good though, he deserves it for the amount he has played.

The more important thing is that we have a run of 4 league games coming that we really should get 12 points from while on those 4 rounds of matches there'll be 6 matches involving other top 7 sides, 3 for Newcastle, 3 for City, 3 for Chelsea, 2 for Liverpool and 1 for United. A Ledley King injury this week would probably leave us 3rd after the next 4 matches. :pac:

I see today that Arshavin has come out and said if his amount of game time doesnt improve he will have to seriously condier his options, No Arshavin please dont go your the one who makes the team tick;), if Wenger has any sense hed drop him straight to the reserves for a few weeks just to make sure he gets the hint.

Unfortunatly promises dont mean very much in football but I really hope he means that. Ashley Cole was probably the only player in recent memory to come through and really establish himself as one of the best, but we know how that turned out. Hopefully Jack will be more along the lines of Tony Adams.... in terms of loyalty anyway, we could do without some of the other stuff :pac:

Unfortunatly promises dont mean very much in football but I really hope he means that. Ashley Cole was probably the only player in recent memory to come through and really establish himself as one of the best, but we know how that turned out. Hopefully Jack will be more along the lines of Tony Adams.... in terms of loyalty anyway, we could do without some of the other stuff :pac:

I would normally be very sceptical aswell and ignore these kind of articles, but there is something very genuine about the chap and the passion and love he clearly has for the club, I think he could be an absolute Arsenal legend.

Coquelin also gave an interview today saying he might leave in January he would be a loss I think

We really need to keep him imo.

Even though I thanked it, hear hear. I see great things coming from Wilshere. Will he be one of the rarer beasts in football? A one team career man? (Until he gets to 27 and we sell him as he'll be on a decline then

Phillipe auclaire had the qoutes from the interview on twitter, even he didn't no if he meant loan or permanent

He is another one with only one year left on his contract come the summer so it is worrying.
