I think the fuel will add a real world variable that could enhance GTAs random madness. In most cases you don't drive a car for all that long, I think most of the time it won't be an issue but every so often it'll catch you out were you rob a car that's almost empty during a big case or your fleeing into the country side begging your car to keep going even though it's almost on empty.

It would definitely add another variable into the mix for when your being chased by feds.

Instead of "Oh crap, this car is on fire, time to bail"
It can be "Oh crap, this cars running on reserve, better pop into maxol." :p

Yeah but at least your car being on fire is something you have control over. No car is about to go on fire as soon as you hit a lamppost. Whereas if you got into a car and within 10 seconds it cut out because you needed fuel, that's something you couldn't have known before you got in and could ruin your chances of escaping the police.

It'd be a nice feature, but I can see it getting annoying pretty quickly, like the stats from San Andreas.

But if it's like real life you could probably make an educated guess that the bangers will be running on empty, the family cars and work vehicles will probably be full and fast cars will have small tanks that empty quickly.

Maybe they'll put in the same glitch from IV where when your car dies you just make a call on the phone and it starts up again. :pac:

Overall the game looks good, a lot more san andreas style but with the physics engine of the last one which provided endless enjoyment.

Had so much fun with that physics engine..... tearing down Dukes Blvd in a Banshee, coming up to the hill in front of the round-about as you enter Hove Beach, launching into the air, and ploughing into a group of pedestrians and watching them fly in all directions. :) Good times.

Or stealing a car, letting the owner grab onto the door and taking him for a ride. Then going a little bit too close to an oncoming car :D

(I hope Jack Thompson doesn't read this)

Ok my thoughts on this is:
    1) More than Tommy Vericetti he looks like Ray Liotta, open a tab and check
    google images
    2) Rockstar said no major chracters will be returning to GTA IV, but they didnt say anyhing bout GTA V :p
    3) There wont be modification of weapons, but like in SA u get a regular pistol and silenced pistol, there might be regular and silenced AK's
    4) Another important point missed, Tommy Vercetti has the same blue suit in VC like the guy, so fingers crossed :D

First of all, you can't tell from that trailer which character you will be playing as if any.
Second, Tommy would be in his late 50s-mid 60s by now and he was Italian, the voice in the trailer is Hispanic.

The characters in GTA have always started as lowlife criminals who had to work their way up, that's the point. Tommy Vercetti was basically the biggest crime boss in VC by the end. Also, Ray Liotta has said he's not in it.

To be fair, Tommy is believed to be in it, just not as a playable character. You don't necessarily need the same voice actor either.
*Awaits topic moving to the gta forum..*

The voice in the trailer sounds a lot like Ray Liotta, i don't know where your getting hispanic from. :L Also at the start it says "Why did i move here, maybe it was the weather" Miami weather would be very similar LA weather.
The man in the trailer looks to be in his 50's or 60's, Maybe Tommy got chased out of Vice City? Thats just my opinion. I would love to see some old faces come back into the series.

Nope, it's definately hispanic and nothing at all like Ray Liotta. Wishful thinking on you're part i think. Weather is also warm where Hispanics come from.

Weather is also warm were white people come from too, you can't just rule it out because of that but you could be right only time will tell i guess.

True, but it's a bit of a stretch to think they're the same person because of comment about the weather

I just think his voice is Ray Liotta's voice and i know i would not be alone in thinking this

Have to agree. Don't know how anyone is hearing hispanic in that.

Can't see anyone from GTA 3 era making a return either.

I'm really perplexed why people think its an hispanic voice. It sounds much more like an east coast italian to me.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,062 ✭✭✭al28283

    It's definatley hispanic

Can they not just make a "groundbreaking" move and have it the first game released on a USB stick?

Surely that'd keep everyone happy? A physical item for the stores to stock (I'm sure most games stores love big games like GTA coming out as it keeps them ticking over) and it doesn't rely on any CD/DVD format restrictions (admittedly, a good, fast, reliable memory stick, with a decent storage capacity would up the price a lot, but sure... people will buy it).

    Also, my predictions would be:

    1. The 4chan nonsense is just that; nonsense.
    2. Completely new location. Will be a happier setting compared to IV, but won't be VC or SA again. I've known Rockstar my whole life, and I know they're not the one-trick pony people seem to think. I'd bet everything I own that it won't be in, near, or mention, Los Angeles.
    3. Same graphics/engine/etc. as IV. May look a tad more polished, but ultimately won't look much different at all.
    4. No real names for either location or vehicles.
    5. Lead character will be from the place the game is set (one of the biggest problems i had with Niko is that he doesn't come from anywhere in particular.

Could be completely wrong, as we all know what R* are like when they get cracking on things, but I'd be shockedif it's not a whole new city.

I'm perplexed, why do you think it's a brand new city...? It looks obvious to me that it's set in California, LA/SanAndreas in particular. Vinewood? Hollywood, most obvious. Oil derricks, boardwalk and palm trees and hills in the background(Beverly hills) cuts to hiking in the mountains? You definitely can't do that in Florida so Vice City is out, that's LA and the Rockies. Grape vines and crop dusters? Napa valley. Wind turbines as far as the eye can see? They're on the highway between Sacramento and SanFrancisco. Underpass full of homeless? Classic LA. Unless it's set across several states, this is SanAndreas II beyond a doubt!

His post was pre-trailer release and he was clearly hoping Rockstar had something different up their sleeve other than a return to SA or VC.

When I first heard the voice, I thought it was an African-American in his mid 30's.
