It's actually a (lovely!) 1800S, as opposed to a P1800. And no love for the Scimitar? ;)

That Scimitar is mine :) ... And I do love that car ;) .

That would explain it alright! My Volvo is like the mongrel offspring of the two cars:

If they were going to include a Ferrari,it should have been the F40 not the Enzo, but thats just my opinion:)

Put a 7 series in but no skoda fabia? Idiots TBH.

I quite like the Enzo! (And the F40!)

Also, I don't think the DeLorean is ugly - just different.

I also quite like the boxy shape Volvo estate

I like the 'boxy' Volvo too. I think it has aged well.

Ugly is the Aston Martin Lagonda. The lines and the proportions are just terrible.

This is for you, Sir! :(

Incidentally, their comment on the Enzo:
The Enzo's superfluous curves and angles take flashy overcompensation to a new high. The V-shaped hood, scooped-out doors, and bulbous windshield scream overkill.

Most of that is functional, for a better view, better cooling and so on.

Lagonda is a bit ungainly but its one of those that look a lot better in real life than photos.

Don't know about the car, but the number plate is classic.

The high profile 'lorry' tyres didn't do that car any favours!

I snapped one in Ely Place a while back and it was every bit as ungainly in the flesh.

It's too chunky in spots and too shallow elsewhere.

What is it with ruining supercars with stupid paintjobs. If it was an ordinary car you'd be called a skanger......wonder what the definition is of a rich "skanger"!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,251 ✭✭✭Thinkingaboutit

You'd have to be a civil servant to afford that Bugatti:P

With a bad head from last night I decided to have a quiet day and took the DART out to the National Transport Museum in Howth.

I hadn't been out there for a while and sad to say it but not much has changed. Its still cramped and badly in need of funding. The sad thing is that most of the vehicles are so tightly packed together that you cant appreciate them. The lack of heat and humidity also means that some of them are deteriorating even though they were restored in the last couple of decades.

Either way its still worth going there, entry is €3.50 for adults and its a great place to take kids, even if they aren't interested in technical things.

Outside are this 1970 (MAN licence) Leyland truck reg 5549 RI and a Dennison of unknown year, theres an insurance tag in the window with 1990 on it.

Inside its cramped as can be seen from this photo

    NationalTransportMuseumHowth006.jpg

The Bedford bus at the front being restored served its life first in the UK, then in Co. Tipperary:

A Leyland Beaver with a 1947 Brush electric commercial from Dartry Laundry on top, reg ZH 2511. The postcard pic gives and idea of what it looked like in the day.

CIE Scammel Townsman, I'd forgotten about these 3 wheelers, I can barely remember them back in the 70's, as kids we used to call them "hover trucks" as you couldn't really see the front wheel. Nice to see at least one survived.

And a few more.....a rare electric truck and a hallowed beautifuuly restored Guinness delivery truck by Albion.

1969 P&T van. My neighbour had one of these in the 90's, he was going to trade it in during the 2000 scrappage scheme but it snapped in half before then! Was used as a chicken shed for a few years but was removed about 3 years ago to make way for a shed. The floor of it was totally gone, just the sides and roof remained.

    NationalTransportMuseumHowth046.jpg

Two Atlantean buses that anyone over a certain age will remember: The blue and white D44 is reg VZI 44, the green D694 is reg 694 ZO

......and when you're finished in the museum you can always go to the market which is to be found ........
