    So with the EU in trouble and things not looking good for the Eurozone, what would you think if the USA offered to take the Republic in as a state or protectorate would you vote in favor of it or against it.

    I think a similar thread to this has been made before but with whats been happening in the Eurozone lately I thought it would be an interesting question to ask.

    Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit no, have you lost your mind? I would rather we were kicked out to sea and left fend for ourselves. Actually as a country I think if we went back to basics we could easily survive on our own.

    there was an interesting proposition made before where china would write off all our debts, in exchange for permission to build a mega port on the west coast as a staging area for european imports.
    they would build it using irish workers and provide irish jobs and turn over a % to the irish economy for the privalige.

    it would be a huge eyesore no doubt so the grannys would say no and that would be that, but an interesting alternative.

    could give the eurozone the two fingers aswell and go back to the punt.

    i cant remember when i read about it first, but i heard it being spoken about again earlier this year.

    not sure if it was an actual proposition that was made, or one of those "what if" senarios. i can try find out.
    im sure there is some basis in truth to it. how much though i dont know.
