Masters or direct training?

    I am trying to decide on what step to take next, I am a mature student in my final year of Fire Safety engineering. I don't know whether I should carry on and do the masters in fire safety engineering in Belfast or would I be better goine for a more direct path such as sprinkler design. The masters would be a broader qualification and would give a wider selection of employment possibilities however I would still have no experience. The sprinkler design course would not carry as much credibility as a masters but would make me more employable in that industry. Does anybody on here have any experience of the fire industry that could shed any light on this for me?

    I presume for the Masters you will have to do a Thesis that will make up a large portion of the results. Could you do your Thesis on a sprinkler design topic?

    Thats not a bad idea, I'll look into it. Any other advice still appreciated.

    A lot of the masters courses in fire are aimed at non-fire graduates and could result in a fair amount of duplication for you. You'd need to go over course & module options fairly carefully.

    Have you any particular sector of the fire industry in mind?
