I always think it's such a shame Ramsey lost a year of his career, I believe he was a better player than Wilshere before that injury. Imagine how good he would be now if he hadent lost an entire year!

Ramsey was well ahead of Wilshere before the leg break. He put together a great run in January/February up until the Stoke game and scored some great goals in the process.

If we can hang onto all of them then from next season on I can see the trio of Jack, Song and Ramsey really flourishing. Gives us a great balance in the middle of the park. The only problem I could see is that Wenger will want to play Arteta having signed him to such a long contract so I can't see the above trio getting too much game time together unfortunately.

I wish we had that trouble at United!!! Even after losing Nasri and Fabregas, Arsenal still have, IMO, the best midfield in England.

Really? If you look at Ramsey, Wilshere, Song, Arteta as their main 4 they are very strong.
I wish Utd's first 4 midfielders were that strong.

City wins all the way IMO, Barry, Hargreaves, Johnson, De Jong, Milner, Nasri, Silva, Toure.

I have to say I think Spuds midfield would give City a run for their money.

Parker, VDV, Modric and bale. If VDV and bale were more consistent they would def be up there as the top midfield in the PL

Yeah they'd be a close second in my opinion.

I'd say we have potentially* the best midfield in the future.

    * familiar? :pac:

Im so sick of hearing that word!! At least this time the potential might, just might, stay when they hit that potential!

Thats the best part about it for me. Wilshire, is Arsenal to the core, as is Frimpong, and Ramsey will stay because we looked after him so well during his injury. That midfield could be massive in a few years.

Don't forget Coquelin. He is going to be BIG too.
We seem to have good cover in this area.

I would prefer having the best defence! No point having a great midfield and a disaster of a defence. Even Andy Linighan was a better central defender than some of Arsene selections.

I liked Andy Linighan. Stuck behind Adams, Bouls and Keown... poor dude.

    Scezney
    Sagna/Wilkinson Vermaelan/Djourou Kos/Mert Santos/Gibbs

That defence is hardly a disaster, unless Santos reins it in a bit and learns to pick and choose hes attacks better then LB is the only area that needs urgent improvement IMO, Baines would do quite nicely.

Am I the only one delighted with Santos so far??

Mistakes aside, he's a great player to have.

I really like the look of Coquelin, seems more talented than Frimpong to me, though Frimpong has superb physical attributes. Good thing they can play together!

I'm happy that coquelin is finally getting a few mentions here
I have been preaching too ye for a year about him :-P

Also looks like ozyakup might be going too genk on loan, that will be good for him
He won't be far off the first team next season

Is ozyakup really that good? I havent seen much of him play at all really only a few mins here and there not enough to judge him on. But some people on here seem to expect great things from him.

Well done. If only the English FA organised some sort of Youth Cup, everyone might have been able to watch him 2 years ago.

I remember reading a while a go about a kinda youth champions league. Some of the top clubs in Europe were planning on taking part. Dont know if it ever went ahead or if its planned for the future or what. Be great to be honest if it does go ahead

Edit: A quick search brought this up.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Falastur2/New_Generation_League

    Arsenal arent involved :(

Young guns mention it before. Afaik Arsenal were considering it but opted against it because they don't want to be putting too much pressure on the young players.

"People wanted us to buy a centre-back so much and then suddenly you realise we have plenty."

    Wenger sure loves tempting fate...

Scharner and Odemwinge are probably missing for West Brom for the weekend.

Obviously, we're all expecting a win given our current form but I'm pretty happy that they mightn't have the pace of Odemwinge to get at our defense.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,576 ✭✭✭batistuta9

Hopefully that defence has vermaelen and koscielny at CB

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,779 ✭✭✭emergingstar

I'd say he will stick with per and Verm
Would love too see kos and Verm start though that could be a brilliant partnership

I don't see any major reason to drop Per tbh. Kos has done well but I think Per has been the better defender.

I dunno. His belly flop style defending for John Terrys goal last week was brutal
