Im still kinda mystified as to why people care about prestiging let alone what the tiny emblem looks like for it? I can see the appeal of doing it once to unlock more challanges but aside from that the cost (litterally hundreds of hours of gameplay and loss of nearly all perks, gadets, weapons and attachements) -Vs- benefit (extra clas slots, tiny emblem) just doesnt make sense? I mean how much time in between matches does it take to tweak a class for a map?

I suppose is personal pref but on paper it seems like a bum deal.

For me it was completing challanges that kept me going. Why not just put a number beside your name equvilent to your prestige rank IW? I mean that'd be a lot easier to decifer but even then its not like it means anything tbh. I have murdered 10th presitgers (mw2) but in the same game I have been owned by 1s prestiges? With the amount of boosting hacking going on it renders prestiging "elitisim" mute. Even the worst player can be 10th prestige as its only representative of length of time played and nothing else.

What I would like to see would be a prestige class system based on pulling down all the meta data such as length of time played, kills, deaths, average streaks per game, amount of challanges completed, points capped, bombs defused etc. Now THAT would really be impressive to see a high level prestiger in a match.

I think most people just do it just to keep things interesting tbh, forces you to use more guns etc

Exactly. The last thing I'm doing it for is for the emblems. It's more to do with using new guns you may have overlooked in previous versions of the game, and keeping it as fresh as possible, as always the extra classes come in handy when you want to have a fair bit of choice for changing your play style in-game.

The only reason I'll prestige this time is because of the prestige shop. I went to 14 on blops just for the gold guns. Prestiged once in mw2 to unlock the prestige challenges to do

I hope they look like the MW2 icons on the screen and not like BOPS. BOPS ones were blurry whereas the MW2 had a black outline on them which made them more distinctive. One small thing that annoyed me from BOPS

this basically, the extra classes is the main one, and mostly for doing the challenges again. you forgot how fun it is bombing through the lower ranks when you prestige again, theres some maps you can do a pile of challenges on, like Afghan, you can do the falling without dying, falling and dying, blowing up cars, bullet penetration kills etc etc in one game mode and go up a few ranks really quickly

I can see why some would do that, myself I just try to get comfortable with a select few weapons and once I find myself slipping into comfort zone I try to pay attention to weapons I find are really kicking my ass in and give them a go!

No need to loose all my perks , gadgets in order to test the weapons and in fact a lot of the times some weapons really need those perks to make them viable like SOH and stopping power. For instance the vector was one I tried out and that really badly needs stopping power or the AUG... great gun but SOH with that totally changes how you can use it. Same goes for attachments, the m1014 benefits hugely from extended mags and a realy good secondary once you have them , when tryin out new weapons for me its important to have a good secondary to fall back on. If I prestige I loose that reliabilty in the secondary and makes me a little more reluctant to try new things with my primary.

If the prestiges were more a meta total of all the relevant stats it'd represent skill and not just amount of time played. That'd be worth reaching for but as it is....I dunno. Just seems like its more a badge of how long Ive played rather than how good I am which the word "prestige" seems to imply? Anyways, what ever keeps people hapy and playing that cant be a bad thing, I just think it could be done better and make the feature more relevant.

I'm gonna prestige once to unlock the shop and spend my 3 tokens on extra classes. I don't really get bored of CoD so my only incentive to prestige is extra classes but when I can get 8 classes with only one prestige theres no way in hell I'm gonna go any further

Now Bowling's saying that if you have the prestige tokens earned from previous COD games, the prestige store will be open from the start
@fourzerotwo Is the prestige shop accessible at any time or only when you prestige?

    @fourzerotwo Robert Bowling
@evlmnke11 It's accessible anytime as long as you have Prestige Tokens to use in it. So if you have 4 tokens on day 1, you can use them.

Watched 2 games from that live stream They were playing on a LAN and the guy playing was being killed sometimes before he even got his gun up which is worrying me since my internet sucks

  • Site Banned Posts: 26,456 ✭✭✭✭Nuri Sahin

    Rather you're internet than mine.

    Anywhoo...

Really chuffed Spec Ops missions is returning. Honestly, if you have MW2 and haven't played them with a mate, you're missing out.

Maps, looked like a combination of past COD maps. One looked like a mix of Highrise and Quarry, another Favela and Cracked and one other(one with chopper in middle) reminded me of Crash and Strike.

Guns sounded good. Seeing the G36C and MP5 brought a smile to my face.

As for the guy playing, less said the better. Lot of stupid questions and repeated for some reason.

    edit -

    Multiplayer starts around 21 mins.

    __________

    Mod note:

Please use spoiler tags where needed especially concerning single player / campaign till the game is released, it'd be much appreciated.

    Ade

Watched around 90 mins of it but if anyone wants to watch it in full, it's below. edit - * I don't there are any really spoilers btw, it's entirely multiplayer footage from what I saw, but you've been warned nonetheless *

There was a single player mission at the start but I didnt watch that. Also the 360 version has leaked so anyone who doesn't want the game ending ruined be on the lookout for spoilers everywhere.

Cheers dude was just about to watch that video and ruin the one part of the game I want to know nothing about.

Would it be possible to put in a mod note alerting posters to use spoiler tags where appropriate from now on till launch?
