I'm about to start collecting parts for a road bike build and I was just wondering what the compatability is like between Dura-Ace, Ultegra and 105 provided it's the same speed (e.g 9 vs. 10 spd).

    Any ideas?

    Cheers,

    Nick

In my experience they all work well together. The only exception is the new Ultegra electronic groupset which will not interchange well with the Dura ace version...

Cheers Rob. Don't think I'll need to worry about the electronic shifting!

Was being a bit smart there...

    I've Shimano on my bikes.
My cross one has 9 speed with a mix of Ultegra, 105, tiagra and FSA and they work perfectly.
Road ones Ultegra and Dura ace 10 speed.
9 and 10 speed blocks from the gruppo's interchangeable, indeed Ultegra block if far better wearing than the Dura ace (holds for BB's too).
As long as they are the same "speed" they are fine

Haha fair enough. That's good to know, I'll be able to keep costs down on this old racer build I've got going so.
