I've a packard bell 24" monitor which has a DVI and VGA input. Is it possible to hook up my playstation to this? If so then what extras will i need to do so?

I know the playstation uses HDMI cable and that's what I have it currently hooked up to on a Hdmi tv, but I'd like to know if its possible to do the above.

    Cheers.

DVI / VGA are only video, they dont carry sound - so even if you get a HDMI -> DVI converter, you'll lose the sound.

Use the DVI port and a HDMI cable with one of these.

If those are the only connections it has then there would be no speakers on the monitor anyway.

Earforce DSS( or alternative mix amp), you connect an optical cable form the PS3 to it then use normal headphones for Dolby headphone virtual 5.1. you could also use some of the higher end headsets that would work, or if stereo is fine using these cables would also help.

So you use the HDMI for video and use 2 of the 3 composite cables ( sound ones) to this and then use a normal set of headphones.
