Why? Did your trousers fall down or sumfink?

2 and at a push 3 of these candidates were worthy of pushing for a nomination. The rest, deluded by their own celebrity, their own self importance and their rampant out of control egos, should never ever ever been in the race to begin with. The quality of political advisers has obviously nosedived here and candidates are confusing honest advise with sycophancy.
Thank god the press did their jobs to some degree and took some of the chaff out, but it may be too late to get Gallagher and the real 'embarrassing' truth is that we may very well have to get rid of this dishonest dolt when he is in office. Now that is cringeworthy!
    ...

Gallagher has clearly stated that he does not lie....... Is that not clear enough for all of you anti ffers....

When Gallagher becomes president the media will really start digging.

We will be making headlines again all over the world for all the wrong reasons...........

Why, when most of us know he is not a suitable president, will we still vote for him.....

We did the same for years with his party

I find it hard to believe he did'nt know "this man" Hugh Morgan.

I actually know Dundalk well in business, and personally had dealings with Hughie Morgan, and I simply will not believe that a businessman based in Dundalk can state he did'nt know him.

Dundalk is a small place and has a small business community, and everyone in business round there, and up to newry know each other, or of each other.

Morgan is also one of the most well known (for his colourful business past perhaps) because he runs a large oil distribution/retail business, everyone knows of him and his business.

    Gallagher's a liar.......

He still has my vote but i am certainly a bit more cautious about him! He definately tried to cover up involvement in Fianna Fail! But you would swear they were the devil! Its ridiculous! On another note that debate was gas! It sounded exactly like Father Ted "the money was just resting in my account" brilliant!

SG has just pulled out of a long standing appointed interview on his local radio station LMFM at the last minute without giving a half believeable reason...the host just went off on one (he's left with 30 min to fill) and said they'd do the interview by phone...response was that Gallagher didn't have a mobile phone and was in traffic.

Good man Sen, keep the head down and push for the line eh?

It is great that at least you are a bit more cautious about him....

I can not understand blind loyalty to FF.......

One does not find that with FG

What he actually did wasn't wrong, it was the fudging and lying about it - should we not be expecting more from our politicians after everything that has gone before. He is now refusing to talk about the company loan debacle (http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/ireland/2011/1026/1224306508933.html) which IMHO is even worse - it seems obvious it was tax avoidance. When are we going to stop putting up with this?

I have to ask you though as I am genuinely totally confused why are you still voting for him? I am asking in the most respectful way; I am genuinely really interested to understand where SG supporters are coming from at this stage.

it's not just about his high level involvement with FF.
He obviously ran his business like somebody who was well up the party and feeding at the FF trough.

His contribution to the 'voluntary sector' is interesting too.

The likelyhood that the election will be decided based on the word of a convicted criminal is a new low.

How does it matter who asked him? If the accusations were unfounded and he was in anyway capable he should have been able to blow them out of the water. I don't care if the man on the moon asked him - he completely fluffed it.

He simply cannot answer a straight answer - this he is responsible all by himself - it has nothing to do with McGuiness (who hasn't a hope of getting elected). SG's interview with Brian Dobson (not a convicted criminal) was cringeworthy.

Aha i knew something was familiar about SG

www.LMFM.ie radio were told at 8.50 am today that the interview would be going ahead. By 9.25 Seán Gallagher pulled out - 7 minutes before air.

Afraid of the local knowledge and possible questions from a host that can be terrier like at times. Loosetalk is in fact one of the better chat shows once you get past some of the colloquial stuff.

MMcG will probably top him in the poll locally, but it doesn't matter. Perhaps he decided to focus attention elsewhere.
Talk of him perhaps coming on before 11am... surely someone's iPhone would become availble in the next 45 min.

[edit] Oh bowed to pressure and is coming on in 10 min from the office

    Tip for all:

How to tell if Sean Gallagher is lying?

    His lips are moving.

There is no box on the ballot paper marked "Cautious Vote".

A vote is a vote - there is no such thing as a cautious vote. If you're going to vote for this chancer, it means you think he is absolutely the best man for the job. Accept what you're doing, don't try to fudge it by saying you're being cautious.

Thankfully the media have shown SG up to be the FF cronie that he is. With this knowledge anyone that votes for him should be shipped off to the Outer Hebrides. We dont need your likes in the new Ireland that the rest of us have to rebuild after people like SG wrecked it.
