Recieved my phone yesterday off amazon,I love it!

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-SDSDQM-032G-microSDHC-32GB-Card/dp/B003HIWHN0/ref=pd_sim_ce_21

Would this memory card be compatible with it?

    Yes.
It will recognize the newer 64gb ones too ;)

Will it really recognise 64gb cards? :)

I thought that out of the box it only recognised up to 32gb cards!
Did a firmware update change this?

I got the Galaxy S2 with Vodafone there recently, seriously great phone.

Just wondering, it has 2.3.3 on it at the moment, will it be likely to get updated versions of Android in the future?

Cheers, thanks. Just wondering, could installing that mod brick my phone or do irreparable damage?

I have my Vodafone Galaxy S 2 on OTA auto update and it's currently on Android Ver. 2.3.5

2.3.5 and 2.3.7 stock really don't add anything you will notice. Still better off with custom rom.

Noticed that Kies was trying to get me to update to 2.3.5, but couldn't actually find much about what the benefit was. Just a bunch of rubbish news blogs from a while ago claiming that it was great that a new version was out, but nothing about what it actually did.

when you plug the phone into your computer should it automatically install software or is it just a case pick and drop?

When you have the Samsung Kies installed that will automatically check for updates when you plug the phone into the USB.
    http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobilesoftwaremanual/mobilesoftwaremanual.do?page=MOBILE.SOFTWARE.MANUAL

You then just have to accept the update and it will go and do it's thing, could take quite a while though and seems a bit pointless to update from 2.3.3 to 2.3.5 as far as I can tell. Far more hassle than it's worth to then reinstall apps and things.

Is it really worth putting the Cyanogen mod on my phone then? Seems like a lot of effort tbh. If it's a big improvement I'll go for it.

    Just follow these instructions?

    http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_II:_Full_Update_Guide

Also, and this is probably a really stupid question, but I can't find a widget on the phone that turns the data network mode on and off, is there one or am I just blind or what?

Its a lot easier than it seems, 5mins and you are done (obvioulsy I suggest you read through the wiki page 1st, this is kinda a nutshells version :D )

    1. Use odin to flash clockworks kernel
    2. DL and copy Rom to phone
    3. Use Rom manager to flash + flash a second time before rebooting (trust me on this strange sounding point)
    4. Flash GApps (google apps) after rebooting phone - download through Rom Manager
    5. Enjoy CM7...

its recommended you do a full backup of your system (just incase) go sms has a text backup in it too (if you use it) handy for restoring sms again after. You also need to move pics & video taken on stock from the default DCIM folder as it crashes the camera, of which there are better ones on market.

Grassey, does clockworks kernel also root the phone? I read that the phone needs to be rooted before installing CM. Whats the best way to root?

Cf root kernel causes errors likewise with the variant of cwm in it when flashing cm or restoring to old rom. I found it as easy to flash the codeworks kernel which roots it, download Rom manager and use that to backup old rom as it apparently the better version of cwm.

Samsung Galaxy S2 just arrived. What should I do with it first? I want to remove some samsung apps that are preinstalled and I found a spreadsheet listing the ones to get rid of via the forum. But with so many pages, it's hard to find where exactly I should start at, at this stage. I also want it to run quick and extend the battery as much as possible (assuming most recent versions of Android help this?)

OK, I'm already on VR 3.0 and rooted so should I basically do the following:-

    1. Back up all apps and app data (not system data) via Titanium Pro
    2. Back up all SMS's using one of the SMS back up apps
    3. Save any photo's or Videos I've taken which are stored on the internal SD card to my Laptop.
    4. Do a full factory wipe including wiping Dalvik cache etc
    5. Flash the codeworks kernel using Odin

This is where I get lost. What do I do after flashing the codeworks kernel? Do I download Rom Manager and somehow use that to flash the latest nightly CM after which I download Titanium Pro from the market and reinstall all my old apps and app settings.

    Please help me, I'm confused.com

    Ben

Hi all, I just purchased a Samsung Galaxy S2 from a German powerseller here:

    http://www.ebay.ie/itm/280762734442?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

They seem to have other listings for the phones too. They are selling them for 399 Euro and then 10 Euro Shipping to Ireland. I saw that this guy was accepting best offers and a few people had purchased the phone from him that way so I put in an offer of 359 Euro then it was instantly accepted.

This could be a bargain and it's possible he has it setup to accept offers even lower than the one I made. I'll let yis know how I get on once I receive the phone (fingers crossed). :)

Best of luck with your eBay purchase, I hope you don't run into any trouble. :)

The listing has ended by the way! Looks like he had 10 to sell, and they are all picked now!
