this week my symptoms have pretty much gone!
apart from feeling nauseous when i eat rich food (usually never ever feel sick regardless of what i eat... EVER!). and i have a headache now and again, but apart from that i feel pretty normal.

    it's weird - i'd almost rather have symptoms so i know i'm still pregnant...

If it makes ya feel better - I'm 22 weeks and still no sickness!! :)

Still getting a lot of cramps, anyone get that? Boobs still sore and no sickness thankfully. Feeling a bit more tired as well.

Had early scan yesterday....absolutely brilliant!! Saw little heartbeat racing along, nearly had me in floods. Doc said it was very strong so have everything crossed that it stays that way.

THANK GOD.... i've put on at least 3 to 4 pounds were most people lose weight at this stage - typical for me.. I'm am just soo tired i could sleep sitting up or on a bed of nails..

so I finally got my date for my scan yesterday and I am soo excited it's for the 22nd of November... EEEK just to have it done and hear the heartbeating and knowing everything is ok...

Oh i've noticed some pulsating feelings in my stomach like nice feelings i wonder could i be feeling the baby move already? I can't imagine it'd be wind cause i've never felt it before.. :)

hope everyone is doing ok? It's hard isn't it :D

PS too tried to even read this for spelling mistakes or punctuation ha ha ha ha...

Hi girls, I'm absolutely in bits with the cramps today, just want to curl up in bed with a hot water bottle. Had a bit of stained discharge as well today, absolutely freaked me out. Wouldn't go as far as to say it was spotting but not quite right. Everything was fine 2 days ago so trying my best not to worry.

Cocoemma, I'm only 7 weeks today but waist if defo expanding. I wouldn't worry about weight at all at this stage, just eat what you like when you like :) Best of luck with the scan, let us know how it goes.

Snabe, God love you with the headaches. Paracetemol is totally fine but I can understand you worrying anyway. I'm such a wuss, I've a few cramps and I haven't stopped whinging and moaning!

Take care girls, enjoy the weekend.

    Hi girls,

Congratulations to you all! I'm also 6 weeks gone, due in June. Found out 2 weeks ago but feels like I've known for months!! We're both super excited, and yet trying not to be too excited too! Found out 2 of my sisters are also pregnant (one is 12 weeks, other 22) but trying to keep ours under wraps for at least the time being!

Have the dreaded all day sickness, genuinely never been this ill in my life!! Am in a constant state of nausea! I don't normally get sick but this has knocked me for six. (one of my sisters lost 2 stone in her first 2 months from vomiting) I'm just trying to eat small regular meals to keep myself going! I've also have sore boobs and the crazy cramping...my husband found me crying in the loo on friday evening, cramps were so bad I was convinced something terrible was wrong, but it passed eventually!

Hoping these next few weeks will go by as fast as possible so I can really start enjoying the pregnancy....imagine, a little person growing inside me, AMAZING!! :D

Congratulations pwalshy!! Yeah, the last few weeks since finding out feel like months for me too. It's sooo exciting!

Poor thing having the sickness. Try not to let yourself get hungry and that might help. You must be dying to tell your family. We told one or two family memebers last week coz I just can't keep it in. Hopefully the next few weeks will fly by...

Thanks Sally, yes I've literally been eating every hour, as soon as I let myself get even a teeny bit hungry its game over!

I told my sister on saturday and one of the girls in work yesterday (although the girl in work said she'd already guess....running to loo every 15 mins, looking tired, eating more often than usual and the big tell tale, I can't stomach coffee at the mo....and I LOVE coffee, lol)

Interested to know when everyones scans etc are booked? I got my dates from Holles St the other day and the said my first scan isn't til 9th Jan!!! I REALLY don't want to wait that long so am looking into booking a private scan at the start of December. Anybody else got such a late scan date??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 64 ✭✭Snabe

    hi pwalshy

i've gone completely off coffee too. it's funny - over the summer i also went off coffee and the girls in work were saying "ooooh i think she's pregnant" when i wasn't. i've now gone off coffee again, presumably it is pregnancy related this time, and they haven't said a word! hmmmm maybe they've guessed

my scan's way later than yours - 30 January so i'll be 20.5 weeks. i'm going public - not sure if that makes a difference.
i have a private scan booked for the end of november though coz i can't wait either!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15 pwalshy

30th Jan??? That's crazy!! I decided to go semi-private....simply because I've been paying into my health insurance for years and wanna feel like I get something for it, lol. Definitely going to book a private scan though, not sure if I'll book for 10 or 12 weeks (although I'm sure I'll have to see what availability they have!)

It's so lovely to be able to talk to people who are going through the same as me (at the same time) I feel like its all I want to talk about at the moment, but don't wanna wear my poor hubbies ears off, lol!

Hi snabe/pwalshy, I'm going public in the Coombe and have my first appointment on 16th November which I think is very early! I'll only be 10.5 weeks so I'm trying to get it put back by 2 weeks. They do a dating scan at this apt. I'm still in the EPU and have an appointment the week before, doesn't make any sense.

Snabe, a friend of mine went to Holles st, they only do the 20 week scan and she ended up getting a private scan at 12 weeks.

Nausea has hit with a vengeance. I feel rotten the last couple of days and am permanently exhausted.

I'm in Holles St too, first appointment is start of January and scan is start of February. Going to get a private scan done at the start of December.

Hi DKIL, that's great, congrats. I'm on my second and going to the Coombe in Dublin. So far they've been pretty good.

Hopefully your sickness will pass soon but at least you can be sick in the comfort of your own home rather than in work :)

Hi All, I had my first app today and my first scan :D I also mailed in April/May because I don't know where I'll end up ha ha

My dates worked out at 12wks 4days but the baby actually measured at 13 wks 4 days so my EDD changed to 25th of May EEK..I'm bloody delighted ha ha..

The little heart was beating and i was so relieved to see that but the baby did not move, i felt a little paniced that it was so still, the lady advised that the baby could be asleep, also i had a FULL bladder and it could be restricting the baby.... there are signs all over the scanning waiting room, full bladder needed for dating scan... she suggested a half full bladder next time, i mean how is that even possilble?????.. anyway i felt a little deflated when i was leaving because i had that added question why was the baby not moving.. anyway had a little winge but i'm over it now.. I googled it (as you do) and, it seems it is quite common, some advice was to have some chocolate or a fizzy drink and it will wake the baby up... i will next time biggrin.gif I keep staring at the picture thinking that could not be inside ME!!!!!!!!!! eek.gifHA HA very happy..

Hi Cocoemma, I feel exactly the same, had my first scan yesterday and was not impressed! The doctor was very cold didn't engage in any conversation. All she said was there is the heartbeat can you see it I said yeah then she fiddled around for a minute and said okay you can sit up now... She hands me 1 pic which I hate to say looks horrible.. I had to actually ask her does everything look okay to you! To which she replied oh it's too early to tell you will have to come back at 20 weeks! I had a little cry on the way home and my OH actually took the photo off me because I kept analysing it... I'm now not due back until 24th January!

OMG mine was like that too, not really very nice and not like encouageing (can't bleeding spell), yes only looked around for a few mins, took measurements and then took the photo, the photo wasn't great but I took a picture of it on my phone to send it onto my parents and it came out 100% better it picked up all the white, try to take it with your phone, i've tried to send it to my e-mail to attach it but i'd have to do it at home....

I'm due back again the 18th of Jan for my big scan too.. what hopsital are you in, I'm in the coombe and i'm due to see the doc on the 20th of Dec I've been told by a friend (her baby is 6months old) that he also does a scan so I'll get to see him/her again but I won't get a picture, so maybe that next little scan will make you feel much better.... I do agree though I was living for the first scan terrified there wpuld be no heartbeat but after that on Tuesday I was then anxihous for the next visit, I don't want to spend my pregancy worrying because that takes the good from it.. it's still amazing and once you saw the heartbeat thats all that matters hun, it did take me a while to feel like that :) I;m happy but slightly worried, i'm sure it's all natural :D

Oh my god sooo glad you felt the same.. thought I was being over dramatic! Yeah I'm in the coombe too.. Thanks for the info on the next visit I got an appointment in the post yesterday for 16th December, delighted to hear they do a small scan then too! Was actually going to ring them today to ask what this visit would be about because I've already had a midwife booking in Tallaght Hospital last week and she took all details plus bloods so was thinking what else would they have to do.... Yeah defo have to stop freaking out at every little thing and start enjoying my 1st pregnancy, I'm hoping now I'm in the 12th week I'll calm down.. fingers crossed : )

Hi cocoemma, great news you're a week ahead! I'm delighted for you. I'm also going to the Coombe and have had a similar experience to yourself but have also had some lovely doctors/midwives, it's pure luck who you get. Don't worry about the baby not moving much at this stage, once there's a good strong heart beat that's the main thing. You won't feel the weeks going by until your big scan.

Are you going public or SP? I'm going public this time. The q's are mad but missing work for a few hours doesn't bother me :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 216 ✭✭cocoemma

poncho i thought i was being over the top as well.. ha ha.. i had said to my partner maybe because they see it everyday its just not a big deal to them.. i dunno.. yes.. well jesus i hope his sister is right, she said that the next app is to meet with the consultant and he goes through what blood type you are and what the results were etc and apparently he does a mini scan to check.. please god he does..

oh i know sally i'm so happy i skipped a week ha ha i'm going into the 14th week tomorrow i mean how mental is that.. i;m going public, yeah the queues are a bit mental but earlier your in the better i think :).. i'm on team a dr Faragh who are you with?

i have two things guys.. one, did your midwife ask you to go to the perinatal clinic on your next visit  she came and found me in the ultrasound scanning waiting room, she handed me a leaflet and said ''emma i forgot to ask to go to the perinatal clinic next time your in for your visit it's very important and it's too early to tell now etc.. '' is that standard?? did sugar come up in my urine, i don't why i never asked her, i was just taken aback that she came to look for me.... just wondering if you's were asked the to do the same on your next visit..

also i know they say you don't feel anything till say 18 weeks on your first and on your second much earlier.. but i'm feeling like these little flutters right above my pelvis below my bellybutton actually were the scanner was.., i mean is it even possible to feel it now.. it's nothing like i felt before  huum... oh dear god i hope i'm feeling the baby, how wonderfull would that be!!!!:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166,005 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

No can't say she did Coco.. I've only seen a Midwife once in Tallaght Hospital but again it was a get in get out situation...She litterally took my medical history and bloods ASKED me what weight and height did I think I was?? (em shouldnt she be taking actual mesurements herself??)

The only thing she said was to tell the doctor at my first appointment in the coombe that I would like to go with the Domino Scheme and he will refer my care back to the midwifes in Tallaght... See your 2 weeks ahead of me too so if it is the norm I'm sure I'll be told at my next appointment with them

No cocoemma, perinatal wasn't mentioned to me, didn't go near it on my 1st pg either. I wouldn't worry about it, just ask them next time you're there. I'm going to Dr. Anglim's team, early morning is definitely best.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 216 ✭✭cocoemma

Humm... thats interesting... Yeah I'll deffo ask next time i'm there.. when I was with my own doctor on Friday I asked him was there any sugar in my urine he said it was clear, no sugar, protein only keritones (dont know how I spell them) so I needed to drink more water.. Ah yeah the mornings are okay once your there early...

eek I'm back into the hospital on the 20th to meet the doctor I'm so EXCITED about that ha ha.. I have never been in hopsital or anything only in A & E for myself once.. so this is all new.. I'm really enjoying the experience I know < loser > ha ha..

You're dead right to enjoy it! I loved my first pregnancy, sailed through it (dd nearly 6) but this one is a whole other story. Spotting since week 6 every day, it's driving me nuts now. Can't relax and enjoy it. Cramping every now and again, not sure if that's normal at this stage. Anyway enough moans...
